It doesn't work with many Blu Ray players, including Sony.

Apparently, this is a firmware issue that pops up from time to time with various titles (although Crank 2 is the first time I've had this problem), and the software needs to be updated with an SD card.

This crap is so annoying. You spend a ton of money on nice equipment and try to be cutting edge and you still can't watch some movies because of stupid extraneous issues that require more money and time to address. Feh.

Don't just vent here. Vent to the publisher and to Sony.

and the Crank movies are entertaining?
it's one huge dizzy head spin.
Jason Statham however was way cooler in "The Transporter" roles.

And I will be venting to Blockbuster, where I picked up the rental, as well.

However, this "vent" is serving as a warning to others who might decide to rent this movie, thus the "Beware" in my header.

Eh, I'm just looking for a mindless action flick. X-Men: Wolverine was all gone. And the newest Transporter is not that good, except for the nutzoid hot red headed chick.

yeah Netlix will give a new one they sent me a message. But it worked fine with my Ps3. It called for an update as some as I put it in. Worked fine :). But if you can't watch it I would worry. The first one was okay kinda corney. 2 was just awfull and i like stupid movies.

It's God's way of saying you shouldn't watch it anyway. Crank was such a stinking pile of rubbish I wouldn't waste my time trying to make the second one viewable. I'd rather pound a nail through my eye or eat a baby bird!

racegunner,

I don't have a hard time believing that. However, my local video place has a terrible selection of Blu-Rays.

I'm wondering how many other titles will have this problem.

I've found its a common issue with blu ray discs. I got one of the early players and I've had to update it 3 or 4 times over the past two years. Fortunately mine has an Ethernet connection for online software updates.

The picture quality is good but the requiremenet for software updates seems poor for a consumer technology to be honest, an entertainment system should be plug and go.

I was thinking about buying a blu ray player but read too many of these kind of posts. Lot of nonsense for something that'll be on TV in a short enough time.
