They listed this as the Pro model, but it's marked up as the Avid. Check it out.

Here's the description:

"Full Length: 19.2 CM
Blade Length: 8 CM
Blade Thickness: 3 MM
Hardness: 58 HRC
Weight: 150 G
Blade Material: 8Cr13
Handle Material: ABS

The Vantage Force boasts the latest in tactical design and innovation. An ultra-fast and smooth opening with the flipper works so quickly, you would think its an assisted opener. Using an oversized liner lock for and stainless steel frame, it provides ultimate strength and durability. When faced with a critical situation, the Vantage Force is prepared to protect in a moments notice. With a non-reflective 8Cr13 blade and ABS handle, this knife will meet the intended need for professionals."

Wow that's a counterfeit Dave?

Yep, at least I'm convinced it is. Here's similar photos of the real thing that I own. You can see some obvious differences, the handle and blade pivot screws, the grooves in the handle are shaped different, there's no anvil stamped on the pocket clip and there's no white label on the box showing the blade steel type.

These fakes need to stay in China or where ever they come from! I wounder why our government doesn't put the hammer down on the importation of this garbage.

Cause the government doesn't seem to care and people always try to get the lowest "bottom line" on everything they buy, ignoring the fact that these are straight up thefts. If these Asian factories put half the effort they use to counterfeit this stuff, they could probably put out a decent product of their own design. That is a convincing fake or at least it would have fooled the normal person. Thanks for the heads up Plumberdv.

Wow... If you look at the blade, where the grind goes up to the thumb hole, the line ends up further towards the center of the hole on the fake, than the original one does. The Bos stamp is lower on the blade, than the original too.

The Government and Buck can't do it all without cooperation from (look into the nearest mirror please). http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-fight-US-based-vendors-of-fakes-counterfeits

The fakers have moved into this country and they have no shame/pride what-so-ever ripping off the people of this country because most won't fight back. Fight back. Fend for yourself. Some folk even contact them and let them know that you are on to them and do things to fight back when attacked by fraudulent practices.

The one Joe Houser just sold me this weekend at the 38th OKCA show looks like yours. Note the screws are different from the fake one.

Sadly, you get in bed with China and its the best and worst thing a company can do. Same with Wal-Mart as the business saying goes.

I was looking at the counterfeit thinking, "they chose a really intricate handle scale to replicate...that's gotta be more costly than it's worth to make forgeries of" ... then I saw the item description and the ABS handle material

That pivot screw always gives it away. Other than that, its a pretty close match.

Plus, notice the grooves that are molded into the scales. On the fake, the tops of them are all rounded off but on the real one they have sharp corners..

How do you like the new one Dave? I know the original you were concerned about the sharp edges rasping your hand.

Kev, if you're refering to the fake I posted in the original post, I don't have one. I stole the picture from their website.

I couldn't stand the aluminum handles on the Avid version that I bought, but replacing the scales with left over ones from a standard Vantage Pro fixed that. I then bought the Vantage Force Pro and it's scales are much more comfortable to me as is.

I found with carry for about a month, the edges smoothed down somewhat and arent a concern any more. Hands down though, the Pro have some of the nicest feeling....and looking, scales of any knife I own.
