I waited quite awhile before ordering these to make sure that I got the new USA made version. I planned on giving them to some Scouts for their back packing trips. They are light, have a lanyard hole and are cheap enough so that I don't have to worry much if they lose them.

This is the picture from the listing, but when I got them today they are the ones made in China. The seller is taking them back and is paying the return postage, so other than the inconvienience, no harm done. I guess it would pay to ASK ahead of time, but who would have thought they used the wrong picture? It says USA right under Buck on the blade, but not the ones I got.

What ever happened to the good, old-fashioned Scout Knife with four practical and useful blades?

Strange new world, ain't it?

Great intentions regardless Plumberdv! Those scouts would be real proud to tote those. My brother recently gave me one of the tiny little buck folders made in china, and I was surprised with the quality. I've been toting it for a fingernail cutter. I put a hair popping edge on it. I honestly wouldn't have bought it myself, But it is a decent little knife. I will be looking for a usa made one now just to compare it to.

 You know what Dave, giving some scouts a Buck Knife is really nice of you.You gave me a good idea,I come in contact with a lot of soldiers.I'm going to get a new Buck Vantage every month to give to some young private or pfc that doesn't have a knife.I would get 110s,but the solders today seem to prefer pocket clip folders. Thanks for the idea, this is going to be fun!:D

I've given the Scout Master several knives in the past and they have all been well received. Most of the scouts seem to want the newer style knives and not the one's like their Grand Dad's carried with all the blades.

I suppose I should just keep these instead of sending them back. I'd hate to be considered in some circles as being a racist or fostering "hate" for not wanting the Chinese ones or to offend any of our members from China.;)

I just feel that since Buck went to the trouble to bring the manufacture of them back to the USA, the least I can do is support that effort.

I'm sure a made in China Buck would make most all kids as happy as a frog on a Lilly pad. They must be of decent quality or surely they would not bear the Buck Logo.I had better get going so I won't be late to the Klan meeting.See you guys later. Tom the Racist :jerkit::jerkit::jerkit::D

Is Buck making a USA made version of the Bantam, or do you mean the new BuckLite series?

Never seen a Bantam that was USA made, first Taiwan then China.

Bantams are now being made in the USA (see the 2010 catalog). I just ordered two more of the camo ones, but I checked with the dealer before hand to make sure they were the new ones and not left over stock.

In my opinion, Buck has sort of created a bad situation here in a way. The knives look the same and have the same model number. The difference is that it has USA under Buck on the blade.

Here's part of the catalog page.
