I bought one of these today.

I got this message from the seller just awhile ago.

"Dear plumberdv,

I just found out these are not the real deal. The guy that I got them from is not providing me with a refund so im stuck. Do you want the knife still or I will issue a refund so we dont have to play the refund waste money and time game. Make it real simple!

There is another seller with the exact same pictures and same price with at least one for sale.

I figured it might be phony, but decided to take a shot anyway. Looks like I got a seller that made an honest mistake and is going to fix it.

Plumber, Thats a rarity in the sellers bay of today . One guy making it right . DM

You know David, I guess I've had exceptionaly good luck there. I've had very, very few problems and when I did, eBay or PayPal always made it right.

Geez,so many knock offs out there.I'm glad he's giving you a refund Dave.

Well, you got to figure that if something seems too good to be true, it usually is. Him having six for sale at that price should have tipped me off.:o

Also that he has very few feedbacks and even lower recent feedbacks.

Also, when a seller says, " I DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THESE KNIVES AND IM NOT CLAIMING TO," .........

That's a strong hint. He also sneaked "Case" into the title line......that's sleazy.

Here's the sellers story. It seems that he was scammed. He had bought some of these from a seller in Hong Kong, but before he did, he checked with Buck and found out that they were real.

Later, he was offered the "Striders" by the same guy and bought six of them to resell figuring the others were real so these were too. I don't know how he found out they were fake, but like I said above, as soon as he found out, he ended his listing and sent me the message.

He's going to send me a couple and I'll send one to Joe Houser to look over.

Good observation....the fact that he had 5 for sale at that price should been an immediate tip off they were phoney as they ussually sell for much more.;)

Some of these folks have unlimited IDs and as fast as you get rid of them they can start all over again with a new ID.

As long as people keep buying from them they will flourish......and people will keep buying from them (even people who should know better).

Most people simply don't care. To most, a knife is a knife--they don't see it as a fake.

And......e-Bay probably cares least of all, since these shady dealers bring in a lot of money.

Thank you Dave for taking the time to expose the knock offs out there!

I actually didn't. The seller himself did it and I applaude him for it. If he has two ID's and had the other one listed also, he closed them too. I don't know if it was the same guy, the original one told me he bought six and I don't know what reason he would have for lying about that.

He may or may not have been lying about that.....but his auction shows dangerous and deceptive practices.

Some of these guys are just stupid and incompetent sellers and some are real professional sharks who use e-Bay as a feeding ground.

The main problem.....you don't know who you're dealing with when auctions and e-Bay IDs can vanish without any warning and turn up again under a new identity the next day.

The best way is to buy from established sellers with hundreds of good feedbacks, good pictures, good, straightforward, responsible product descriptions and nothing deceptive or suspicious in their auction.

No harm in harassing the crooks, they deserve it.......but you can't expect to put them out of business because they just come back with another ID the next day.

Yes, sleazy dealers do that to get more hits from knife people.......see, all the searchers for Case knives will end up seeing that listing--more potential buyers.

It's a rules violation, but they get away with some forms of it.....this one in particular.

For the same reason, you see half the knives listed called "Buck" knives. They get all the searchers for Buck knives that way even though their knife might be a Steel Warrior.

:)
