Link to the auction and seller below. He even admits to knowing they were fake, but since he put "imported" down at the bottom, thought it would be OK. He even quotes Buck stuff in the description.

I bought this and had a pretty good idea it was fake. It is, so beware.

I checked it out and in the new auction, he/she claims them as "Buck 110 Clones" and does admit they are from China

If I'm not mistaken thats an auto as well?

Yep, but it doesn't work very well.

The seller and I are now in a bitter battle over return shipping. He dosen't think he should have to pay for the return shipping. I disagree. ;)

I don't really care either way. The cost of the fake won't cause me to miss any meals. The guy had every intention of deceiveing unknowing buyers which was obvious when he told me he knew they weren't real Bucks and needs to be taught a lesson in honesty.

Give 'em hell Plumber! Counterfeiting skumbags.

You know, I wouldn't be so pissy about it if he had not admitted to me that he knew they were not Bucks in his first response. I've bought fakes before where I was convinced that the seller had no idea or at least I gave them the benefit of the doubt. This guy deliberately set out to deceive the unwary.

Is eBay doing anthing about it?

eBay isn't involved at this point, but unless I get what I'm asking for they will be. I want my money back plus shipping cost to him BEFORE I send it back. I'll either get that or he gets negative feedback and really bad star ratings. I've already gone back aways in his feedback (good by the way) and found other instances of him selling fake knives although they were not Bucks.

Send Joe a heads up.

While Buck will never say, I believe there was a blurb once about turning some of this kind of thing over to their legal dept.

I saw these when I was looking for a Buck 110 auto...I ended up finding there are plenty of people putting auto kits on genuine buck 110/112's and the prices are usually over $100 for the long button (similar to the clone you have) and the round button kits are around $190.

Blade ops has some youtube vids of the genuine ones they sell and they are very tight in action and lockup like a regular 110.

I saw the auction and it WAS deceiving, the seller went on about the history of the Buck 110.Go get'em Dave!To be honest the way Pay Pal is set up the buyer has the upper hand big time.:D:thumbup:

The auto knives that are original Bucks are still not made by Buck. If memory serves me a couple of companies made swich blade out of buck 110s. I would imagine Buck wouldn't warrenty these knives, so fake or not They arn't buck any way. its just a 110 blade.

Just about the whole thing is the stock parts from buck, they just route out a spot for the spring assembly and button using the original wood etc. If you base the warranty being what makes a buck then sure, the warranty probably doesn't apply but they are not making it from fresh and just wacking a 110 blade on.

You'd get bucks quality, and I dunno about anyone else but most 110 you can have for 20+ years without an issue if you maintain it.

Good going Dave, you're on those counterfeits like a COONHOUND:eek: Buck should pay you a bounty on them!:)

I guess that explains the good price:( You dont fit into the unwary catagory too often Plum. Hit em hard, calling them imported but using the 110 write up from the web pages is shear deception.

Paragon, and another company that escapes me right now, but as for the warranty, mbjannusch is 100% correct.

Joe Houser has addressed this before many times, 110's that have been converted to AO or "switchblades" are not covered under Buck's warranty.

There was a poster here a few years back or so that did some of the auto conversions and would warranty his work. Haven't seen him post in a while.

But the autos, being illegal to carry, are fun collectibles and unless one sits around deploying one a lot, should not
require any maintenance.

I picked up one of the more obvious fakes off ebay once (before they banned autos) just to see, and play with it. It basically lives on my desk as a utility knife. Nice to be able to deploy in a hurry for minor chores.

It deploys a little slower than the other Buck 110 conversions and is definitely less quality. The blade is loose. Blade is lightly etched Buck USA on the front tang and heavily stamped 440 Stainless Steel on the back.

Blade is lightly etched Cumberland Mountain Knife and Tool with some mountain logo. The frame does look like a true 110 frame.

At least that seller put up enough pics and clues without ever saying it was a fake that any of us would have known. Just for grins, I emailed him after I got it, fussing about it not being a buck blade and a fake, he refunded me $20 bucks.

It never hurts to go after these jokers that try and get away with something. Whether innocently or on purpose.

The ones I have run across that are uninformed and give bad descriptions have usually been women running some resale shop. One had a 110 in a clampack listed as a leather sheath. It got here with a cordura sheath. I let her refund me just $5 since it was a both horizontal/vertical sheath.

If we don't call these people on these bad descriptions, no one will. Maybe it will help future collectors have a better Buck experience.

Here's what's going on with this saga at the moment.

When these first showed up on the site, I was suspicious that they might be fake, but I decided to take a chance. I remembered the first Paradigm Pro (the first to be shown on the forum) that I got for $69.99 delivered as a BIN listing, so I know really good deals show up even if they seem too good to be true. I could list several other spectacular deals I found that way also.

I did the BIN on the "110" and almost immeditately received a message from the seller saying he had another and did I want it. I said "why not" and he sent me a request for payment which I paid. I knew that it wouldn't be covered by the auction sites buyer protection and couldn't be disputed, but I also knew that there were other ways to get around that.

When I received the knives and saw that in fact they were counterfeit, I contacted the seller who stated that he figured I knew that because he had put "imported" at the bottom of the listing description. He said he would refund my money but I had to pay the postage to send them back to him. We then got into a pissing contest over that.

I finally made him the offer that he send me a PayPal payment for the payment I made when he sent me the request for payment for the second, unlisted one plus shipping. I would then send them both back and he could refund the payment for the one he had listed and I had purchased. If I didn't receive the refund at that point, I could file a dispute and claim with PayPal and get it back that way.

Next thing I know, I get a refund notice from PayPal for the price of the original listed one and no return shipping. I also received a request to cancel the original transaction so that the seller can get back his listing fees and final value fees. I can't dispute the other payment, so that's not an option. I declined the request to cancel the transaction, so the ball is now back in his court.

Worst case for me is that I have the original refund of $59.95 and both knives. Worst case for him is that he got about $54.25 for two of them and negative feedback to boot. I'm sure that Joe and those at Buck would love to see this POS along with his listing describing it as a Buck 110 and even using Bucks own words in the description. His business card as a dealer that he sent along with the knives will be a nice little add on to send to Buck also.
