Coming home last night, I spotted a Long-tailed weasel in the headlights. With 460 watts of light blaring on the critter from the jeep, I was able to approach him and get some close shots.

Very cool! I wouldn't have known what he was.
Thanks for sharing.

YEP,the bad thing bout them is i have chickens and fighting cocks,at night when they are on the roost the weasel will come in and bit them in the neck and suck out all there blood,so in the morning you have bout 2 or 3 dead cocks.........

Nice job, Did he ever find what he was looking for?

Something cute to murder, no doubt. :D Weasels are all about destruction- they dream about crunching baby bunny skulls. They're relentless, merciless killers.

Great video!

Cool find! I would had to resist the urge to take him home! (bad idea!) :p

We had a ferret as a pet for several years. Very cool and every inquisitive animal and very social. He could fit in really tiny openings. I read that at the turn of the 19th century before poison was used extensively they were used to control mice and rats in warehouses. They have a hell of pair of choppers on them and love to dig and crawl into things. Most pets that have been socialized properly are very social with people and I have seen many get along with other pets.

Of course this isn't exactly the same but he reminds me a lot of that little guy we had.

He was really going to town on that hole:eek: Hard to believe that something so ruthless can be so timid looking.

I can't believe he left you get that close,I saw one a couple months ago,I was walking along the canal path one morning and one crossed the canal path about 30yds or so ahead,I had a camera along but that one was camera shy.I use to catch them in muskrat traps occasionally.I was probably only 12 or 13 when I caught the first one,I went back to the house all excited,I though I had a mink.We had one hide in the engine compartment on the OLs cars a year or so ago,I new something was in there, when left my dog out that morning, she was trying to tear the car apart to find it.When the OL left for work that morning, the weasel must have tried to get out and either got caught in a belt or ran under a tire,I found him laying in the driveway later that morning.

every time he went down in the hole, I got a little closer. It took about 30 minutes. I really hope he does kill bunnies. We have WAY too many around here. Sadly, it looks like that may be his home. I'm bringing a havahart up this weekend to move him.

The landlord doesn't like him digging holes so close to the basement foundation. He doesn't want any moisture going in if he can.
