I have only ever owned and used the Delica or Endura models whenever a Spyderco was in my pocket. I gift a Tenacious to a friend of mine.

For the longest time, I thought the Deilca/Endura were the it models from Spyderco and I didn't need to look at any others.

Well, curiosity is taking the better of me and I began looking at other models. I'm liking the Military... but more so the Para-Military 2 due to its size - more like the Endura which is pretty much the largest size I'd go with.

Could you guys give me some feedback on the PM2? I've watched some YT vids and read a couple of reviews - everybody's quite happy with theirs. Obviously, plenty of "improvements" in the PM2s. I'm curious about the lock also - is it stronger than a lockback or even the liner on the Military?

Any input and feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I have a few PM2's and a few Millie's. I carry the PM2 a lot more because of the size. As for lock strength the compression lock is going to be stronger but I don't see either one failing me, but I don't beat on my folders. I have fixed blades for that. Both are Spyderco classics, but I think the PM2 is probably the knife for you, I can just about guarantee you will love that knife. Enjoy making your decision and getting your new knife!

I love both my Delica and Para 2, but I like the Para 2 better. The ergo's for me (and many others) are fantastic; the G10 is a step up from the FRN and the general shape fits my hand better. Plus you get an upgrade in steel, sometimes a big upgrade depending on if you have one of the "super steel" sprints.

The strength of the compression lock on the Paramilitary is stronger than a liner lock or traditional lockback. The compression lock essential places a piece of steel between the stop pin and blade tang. The only way to break the lock is to bend or shear through the steel tab.

All in all, it's a great knife.

ETA: The Military's a great knife too (I own seven), but it's longer than the Endura, which you said was your max. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either model.

Have you given the Caly3.5 a look? I've gotten the chance to carry one for a while, and I consider it a sort of higher-end upgrade to the Endura. It's also worth mentioning the Caly3.5 is a lockback if you're comfortable with that style of lock.

Hello,

Ive have the Endura, Delica, Para2 and the Military. I got the Endura and the Delica at the same time because I wasnt sure if the Endura's long blade would be to much for me. After about two weeks of edcing both of them I really liked the Endura a lot more. The Delica is just to small for me, I really enjoyed the longer blade. I carried it every day for probably 9 months, it performed flawlessly. The Endura was my first large folder and I wanted more so I got the Para2. I liked the Para2 as much as the Endura and it replaced it for about 6 months. Since then I decided the longer blades are my thing and had to get the Military. Its my favorite folder hands down. If you can edc the Endura then transitioning to the Military will not be a problem at all. The Military is only 3/4" longer open and 1/2" longer closed then the Endura. It feels better in my hand and I like the fact that it has a choil. If you dont like it then trade it for a Para2.

Have a good one,

Chris

Yup. I've seen it before a few times. Considered it. But, I'm drawn to the PM2 because of the compression lock because I've never owned that style of lock.

Thanks!

Thanks for the write-up Chris!

Archman's review of the Military (and he's a Sebenza carrier like me!) gives me a good idea of the knife. It's a different animal for sure. Man... decisions decision.

I'm also realizing that the handle-to-blade ration is really throwing me off. I don't like handles that are so much longer than the blade.

my main edc rotation are an endura 4 and a titanium military. i don't like any blade less than 4 inches unless it's a good slipjoint. a 5'6", 135-pound filipino here. :D

The PM2 was the only Spyderco I never warmed to. Never felt right and the lock was too fiddly for me. I don't find the Military that much bigger when closed and overall I like it much better than the PM2. The knife that beats both of them for me in terms of handling qualities is the Stretch.

I am waiting on a PM2, but second the Stretch, and the Chokwe I just got is unbelievably awesome. It is pushing the size limits for me personally, but it is the nicest, well made, attention to detail folder I have. Cannot find one thing wrong with it (I did change clip to a deeper carry clip). I have never owned really high end folders or customs, but don't see them getting a much better than the Chokwe. If the Delica and Endura are all you know from Spyderco, be warned, and get out now if you don't want to spend a lot of money.

I was like you in the Endura/Delica dept, and I like my endura better. I got a PM2 a month or so past and This is my favorite Spyderco by far. The Para is so comfortable in hand I don't care about any handle/blade ratio, it's a nice looking knife regardless and carries extremely well. Enjoy the search.

Totally agree.

The handle on the endura is a few mm larger than the Para, but the para just feels nicer in my hand. Weight it about the same between the two. Thee blade is smaller on the para compared to the endura, but not by much.

The PM2 is probably my all-time favorite "user" Spydie. I carry one with me almost all the time (primarily the 20CP blade with custom maroon micarta scales). I highly recommend the P2 - it has a near-perfect blend of size, weight, and profile that make it a great blade to carry for almost any circumstance.

First off, if you conclude that you will own more than one knife at any given time you'll be more relaxed. I too have owned only delicas and enduras since thy came out. Buy an endura and a pm2 and you'll be happy.

I received my PM2 today. Run-of-the mill (I like run-of-the-mill) CPM S30V satin blade, plain edge, and black G10. Impressed isn't really the right word. I'm more surprised by the fact that I think I found the great equalizer - if you can't decide between a Delica or Endura... get the PM2. I feel it's a great "middle" between the two - inching a tad more toward the Endura. Of course, quite an upgrade from FRN to G10. Ergonomics are great. Compression lock feels so natural as it's pretty much the same action/hand mechanics as using Spyderco's lockback. I'm surprised at myself for waiting so long to try one out.

I'm trying to talk myself into the Military now... but, yeah, the size of the thing.

Thanks all for your responses.
