Hi everybody, most of you already know i sell high-end fossils for a living, primarily fossil shark teeth. Well, i got to thinking that i have gotten an awful lot out of BF and all who contribute, and i thought i might do something nice to repay the kindness i have found here.
So, here is the deal. I have chosen a very high quality, 10 million year old fossilized Megalodon shark tooth, truly a razor sharp, fully serrated "knife", albeit made by nature, and not man, its about 3.65" long, and 3" wide, for scale, the largest tooth ever found of a modern Great White was just 2 5/8", and the average size of a GW tooth is just 1.3-1.4". The Meg tooth is extremely sharp, and fully serrated, it also has a very pristine tip serration, in short, i decided to offer a decent tooth, not something i just wanted to get rid of, and trust me, i have lots of stuff id like to get rid of. I would price this tooth at about $175 on my WS, so, the prize being offered is a fairly serious one, and most definitely, a very COOL one that i think any knife nut will appreciate. After all, these teeth are nature's finest knives.
So, here is the contest. I will ask a question, the first to post the answer in this thread wins. BUT!!! If you post your answer in this thread, you MUST not edit your post, if i see any response in the thread thats been edited, you are disqualified, because somebody could, in theory, be the first to respond, but not have the correct answer, then edit the post later to include the correct answer, and obviously thats not fair, so, again, any response that has been edited is invalid and i'll go to the next unedited answer. So, post your answer, make sure its exactly what you want to say and dont edit the post.
OK, here's the question...
In the movie Jaws, Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) finds a Great White tooth embedded in the hull of a boat, when he is describing how big the tooth was to the town's mayor, he compares the tooth to what? He says something like: "..a Great White tooth the size of a <blank>"
Fill in the blank, be the first to post it and you win an even bigger tooth than the one Hooper is talking about, thats also about 10 million years old, and belonged to the largest, fiercest super-predator that ever existed, Charcarocles Megalodon.
Good luck.
