I can open a beer with about any hard object, so the wonky lifter never bothered me. But today I noticed my Leatherman has a crappy caplifter, too. THEN, I realized, and verified with both, that it is all about the way you USE the caplifter. Straight up, hard. Turn it at a bit of an angle, no problem. Cheers gentlemen.

Let me know if it works for you. Worked slicker than snot for me.

The lifter always seemed to work well for me.... been poppin' bottles in the ice, like a blizzard since 2012. ;) Glad it's working for you guys too.

LOL. Nice video. I can still open a beer quicker with a Bic lighter than anything else. Nice pop, too. ;)

I sent mine back to GEC with the observation, "the cap lifter doesn't lift caps." They had it back to me three weeks later and it works perfectly. Mine was very funky. Straight up I could not open a bottle at all. Turning the lifter at angle, I could get the bottle open after about 6-7 attempts. Now it works like a charm.

Sorry I "stepped away" from the forum for a few days. I will get a picture of the modified cap lifter when I get home this evening and post a copy.

Ok, here is a picture of the "repaired" cap lifter. I wish I had a before and after picture. It looks like they ground "the hook" in the lower left and the angled "ramp at the upper right. Hope this helps.

Not do de-rail the thread ...... but I wonder if GEC has any plans to re-release this knife, but with a different blade option. I'd love one with a blade that's something like the main blade on a 66 calf roper.

Now back to your regularly-programmed thread. :o
