I have been a member here for about 5 years and this is my first BF knife. So I’m wondering how many of you plan to put your knife away with other BF knives you have in your collections or do you plan to carry and use it?

Yes, I plan to use it.

I prefer to enjoy the memories and experiences using the knife. It would be a shame to have all those wonderful materials and design sit static in a drawer.

And also, no, I plan to store it. It would be a shame to mess up such great materials and design by scratching up the blade, bolster, and smoothing out the scales.

I ordered two. :)

Personally, I use my 2018 Buck all the time. It is a great knife for my purposes. My 2019 GEC is still new in the tube. It's an awesome knife, but I have a couple of others that already fill that role (single blade, straight edge), and it is a little big for me.

I ordered two of the 2020, so maybe one for the pocket and one for the knife box! Actually, I plan to gift the nicer knife to a friend, but we'll see. If he doesn't like it, I will put it aside for my son, when he is old enough to have a knife of this caliber.

I kind of wish I had ordered one, since it's my first year here. If I had, I'd definitely use it. The only knife I have that I wouldn't use is one that belonged to my grandfather.

I didn’t order this year’s knife because it’s too close to a Viper Swayback that I already own.

I don’t collect forum knives but if I did I might not use any of them.

My 2018 Buck 301 Bladeforums knife is a fantastic user. It would be very difficult not to use that one. It’s among my all time favorite knives.

It depends on whether I can deal with all the blade etching. If it bothers me (which I anticipate); mine will be sold. If not, it will be used.

I plan on using mine. I really like the steel, it will be how it feels in hand and in pocket that determines how often I will carry it.

I have three forum knives.

The 2015 (iirc) serpentine Canal Street is put up. That doesn't rule out its future use, I just haven't carried or used it yet.

The 2016 harness jack I won in Glennbad's great GAW. I haven't used it or carried yet either, but its sitting right here where I can fondle it View attachment 1451837
Its a user. Or will be. Its such a great knife I can't see not using it. Besides it was a gift. If I ever pass it on, it will be a gift again, so its potential monetary value is irrelevant to me ;)

The 2018 Buck has been carried and used. I love everything about this knife. I'm partial to Buck's pocket knives anyway and this one just takes it to the next level.

I suspect the 2020 will end up being mostly put away for the simple reason that I'm not a big fan of single blade knives with Wharnclff blades. Just personal preference. I, of course, reserve the right to change my mind on a whim at a moment's notice :p

Been here nearly three years. I bought the 2018 and 2019 forum knives with the intention of using them. Was a little disappointed in both, and don't carry them much. But I don't regret buying them and intend to keep them. I passed on this year's. Partly because of the modern screws on the handle (although I am a fan of modern steels), but mostly because the straight edge knife is not one I will use often. And I have other, more expensive knives I really want.

The second one down is the 2019 thats my only forum knife so far, as you can see it gets used. Patina and pepper spots and swirls and scratches on the bolsters and shield all tell a story,my story and I enjoy it that way. Others may enjoy theirs as a beautiful piece of craftsmanship and art,and wish to keep it pristine. Both ways are right,do with yours in a way that brings enjoyment to you.

I have the Forum knives from 2016 on. They all get used, but not a lot. I carry two or three knives, and I always include a straight edge. Most of my Forum knives fit that bill, so no single one gets carried all that much. A duplicate of the 2019 knife stays in its tube, and will probably be a gift. I expect the 2020 knife will get light use like the others. Resale is not a concern for me.

I have all the forum knives but the only one I've ever had as a user is the Buck. Of course, I also did unnatural modding-type things to it, but I am enjoying it never-the-less.

I plan to carry/use one of mine. I'm not sure what the 2nd one will be.. likely a gift.

I have a 2015 Canal Street that I bought on a whim on the exchange, and I don't carry it.. it just doesn't ring my bell, somehow. I really should move it along to someone that will appreciate it. I have a 2018 Buck that I carry occasionally as a dressy knife. I like it a lot. My 2019 knife is a user, and has a fair patina developing.

I'll use mine for the first couple of weeks and then put it away into the rotation where it will come out occasionally for duty.

Very few of my knives have not seen some pocket time and cutting duty.

best

Love carrying new knives. Some get carried longer than others. But if I'm paying for it, dang straight I'm going to be the one to knock the "new" off it. No way am I going to put it up only to let someone else have that opportunity down the road.

Then I'll decide how sticky it will be for the future. I mean heck, you can only carry a dozen or so knives at a time. So most will ultimately spend much of their lives on a shelf anyway.
