Ken just sent me specs and a picture today. Steel is 1084 and specs are as follows:

drop pt: 4:blade, 3 3/4"cutting, 1/4" ricasso 8"oa 1 1/4"wide 5/32"thick
Scandi: 4:blade, 3 3/4"cutting, 1/4"ricasso 8 1/4 oa, 1" wide 1/8"thick.

Knives ground and heat treated without scales for those that want to finish them themselves. Just waiting on price right now.

Tell us what you think. I really like the flat ground version:thumbup:

Thanks Ken:thumbup:

Being in the flat ground camp, I really like the one on the left. That design is about exactly what I had in mind. Small enough to always have with you, but still plenty of knife. I like the small index finger groove, and that the blade comes almost right up to the handle. Since I'm not too crafty, I'd choose the completed knife with Micarta scales. Thanks tarmix, and Ironwolf!

Those are great!

Is it possible to get him to make some of the scandis to where the plunge is right above the fingerguard bump so that the ricasso area is very small?

I am with TKnife on this, the completed knife with micarta handles of the blade on the left.

I'll take the uncompleted because of the price cut, and cuz I'd like to make my own mark on the knife. I'm anxious to see the price tag though, that's the real deciding factor for me.

For illustration purposes can you see how the blade comes down all the way on the top blade? I find this better for notching

Here's a picture with the handle. You can see the ricasso is only maybe 1/8"

I, too, like the flat-grind drop point. Both knives are nice, but I an with tknife and pjmaxm. Micata would be nice, but I'd be open to other handle materials, as well. I am not intersted in furnishing my own handle scales at this time.

Nice work Ken!

tarmix101, and word if NWA is still interested in participating (submitting a design)? And thanks again for chasing all this stuff down!

Here is what I got from Ken today on price. Prices seem very reasonable to me.

$70 for blade alone $140 for wood handle and sheath(either pins, pins with thong hole, or loveless bolts and a thong hole) the handles are drilled for pins, loveless bolts and a hole for a thong tube. price includes shipping within the US, Canada and overseas may cost a bit more.

Prices are for either of these styles, but then we'll need to add in the $ for two more(one for Spark, and one for auction) and approximately $60 for a stamp reading BF W&S 07 I'll number them with an engraver. Overall though, for 30 orders, that comes in at about $11 per person.

I have the handles on, I used some curly maple I had on hand, however, I didn't have any tubing, so I placed an extra pin where it would have gone. I will get my wife to take pics as soon as shee gets home today
Ken

I'll take one of the scandi blades naked. I'll probably put some osage on that bad boy and dang it'll be a winner. When can we pay?

How can we pay?

Price sounds great, and with the stamp on there to make it more "official", that rocks!

SWEET! I love the scandi! If I get one (which I will once the move is over in July) it'll be my very first.

I'm with HD on the plunge line. The ricasso will get in the way. But I'm taking one of the scandi's either way.

I'll take 2 of the blades if he can extend the plunge line like I mentioned?

Hollow I'll let Ken know and see what he comes up with. If most of the guys that want scandi's are of the same thinking as you, I'm sure it won't be a problem.

Need to make changes to fit the majority;)

man that thing looks great.... i'm in....

i really like the drop point.... though the scandi is pretty nice too....:D ...

Flat ground looks good, but I was kinda hoping for O-1 vice 1084. Regarding the scales -- we talked about Micarta and this design is specifying wood. Then the question becomes: What wood? Devils in the details.
