Hi All,
Welcome to the review of the second official Bladeforums Toronto luncheon! Our little homage to the Blade show featured a barbecue at Murray Whites house of knives and a knife show-and-tell. Special thanks go out to Murray (and Phyllis) for hosting the event and for the photography (oh, and for making great barbecued mushrooms).
BF Toronto members in attendance were:
Murray and Phyllis White, Robert Laufer (RL), George Tichbourne, Roger Pinnock (RogerP), Holger Enge (cockroachfarm), and newcomer Robert Barghout (Bobby B) who drove 1.5 hours to attend the event.
We didnt waste any time getting to the knives. There were close to 150 knives on scene, including the likes of Fisk, JW Smith, Fitch, Siska, Tom Mayo, Lightfoot, Wolfe, Brian Lyttle, Carter, Walker, and scores of other makes (custom and production). We dont have pics of them all but here is an idea
Fisk
JW Smith
George tries to get a closer look at the color of the pearl and Damascus (thats Robert B in the background)
Big Fitch
Little Fitch
Holger and Robert L taking a close look at some of Roger's prizes
Speaking of which, heres Roger admiring his wonderful Damascus Bowie by Brazilian maker Korth.
and a close-up of the knife
back to George who is looking at a new knife from South African Rob Brown (note the snazzy cockroachfarm hat)
and the usual close-up (sorry, I have exceeded the maximum embedded pics)

Following the tradition established at our first event, I cut myself. Lets just say that the Microtech LUDT has A LOT of recoil as in enough to make it fly out of my hand and stab me in the leg (and poke a hole in my new pants).
Throughout the afternoon, we tried to get in touch with Neil Ostroff (www.truenorthknives.com) who was live at the Blade show in Atlanta. We were not able to get through but I did speak to Neil just prior to our luncheon Neil was kind enough to get a Strider BD for me . Thanks Neil, I received it today and it is awesome!!
We did not get a chance to see the instructional videos (with Michael Janich and James Keating) that I brought along theres always next time!
Thanks to all who came out and thanks again to the Whites for hosting.
Regards,
RL
