No kidding there. BEAUTIFUL beaches. This will be my third time to Maui (I guess you can just call me an official tourist... sorry about that). I love the island! Last time I was over, in '97, I hit Wainapanapa, Hana, and quite a few beaches along the coast between Kaanapali and Makena (hope I remembered how to spell all those correctly). My wife and I keep wanting to do some bpacking around there, but it seems that the best place, Haleakala, is pretty restricted. Combine that with the difficulty of lugging all your bpacking equipment all the way from MD, and it just isn't worth it. This time, we're coming over for the Maui Marathon, so we'll pretty much be taken up with that.Mauix: Sorry Rockspyder, ZERO Knife shops here, but you can look forward to some great beaches.
Is Makawao the town partway up Haleakala? What is the steak house food like? Good? Maybe I can scam a dinner there, and hop over to Basecamp....Tom Mayo: Basecamp- directly across for Makawao steak house....carries my knives...although I have been very negligent in getting him any new stuff for a while....dont know about anywhere else
