Back in February of 2016 I picked up this 9", 6oz baby Foxy Folly on a DOTD and thought that I might give a quick update.
I ended up making a front pocket sheath with some blue stingray to blend in with my FD uniform pants and tweeked the edge just a bit. It pops hair now and holds a great edge. It gets most of it's use in the kitchen, food prep is very important to firefighters ;). On some occasions it has been used to clear off clothing and seatbelts, opening up bags of oil-dry and ice melt. One part of the design I really like is the flared butt of the handle. It's very easy to draw the blade because of that "bell" shape is so easy to grip. The spine is about 1/2 a cm thick with a 5- 1/4" blade that really lends itself to push-cuts. The curve of the blade with pressure from your thumb on the spine is wickedly easy to control. Long story short...er, if you're looking for a fantastic, sharp and solid EDC blade I highly recommend this one!

I've been interested in the baby fox folly: Can you tell me how it fits in the hand? Do you have enough room for all your fingers on the handle, or do some go past the bolster?

Love the sheath! I've recently started making my own sheaths too.

Thanks!
I wear LG-XL gloves and the handle is long enough to clear the top of the bolster by 1/8". The shape of the grip feels great, no slipping or twisting. When the blade is in an icepick grip my thumb can lock down on the butt cap very securely.

So if I understand you right, then your hand doesn't completely fit on the handle, but doesn't ride up far enough to come into contact with the edge?

I wear xl gloves too, so my hands would probably hold it about the same.

Very nice!

I particularly the bottle opener clip. Where did you get that?!?

I really like the pocket carry, but a fixed blade needs to be dangling from the belt over here in Ca.

I have a couple small and med FF and would love to get them in a more compact carry.

Great sheath, I bet that stingray helps anchor the sheath in the pocket too.

Thanks for sharing and great pix!!!

Thanks! The clip is actually a money clip sold by Springfield Leather. They sell it to use as a part to make your own custom money clips but I have found that they are perfect for gripping the top of a pocket. The funny thing is nobody ever notices the knife, I think they see the bottle opener and assume it's a tool of some type. Give it a try, I have used this style on several sheaths and it works great!

I'm interested...maybe I should take another look at the baby foxy folly... something smaller than all my 12"-ers.
