Does or doesn't CRK refinish BG-42 blades? I know they will resharpen and re-sand blast the handle but I'm just a little confused on the exclusion of BG-42 on the service form.
Thanks in advance.

IMHO BG 42 subject to pitting and corrosion more than I like... so perhaps that has something to do with it

No replacement blades would be my guess.

I asked CRK if they could replace the blade on my circa 1997 large seb BG42... I told them i was willing to buy a new blade.. they said no since the geometry was different than the current sebenzas

I wonder if i should retire the BG42 I've been carrying....

They will sharpen the blade, but not refinish it as you mention. I have one but tend to be careful with it since the blade can't be replaced. It does hold an edge really well though!

Thanks for the responses. The crk website is a bit ambiguous or maybe I was just hopeful, I have a large and a small classic MM that I bought used back in the day. They are both beat to hell especially the small which was left under a Yahmaha atv front panel during an emergency repair in the dark for over a year. I thought I lost it but when I found it it was pitted as ti lock alluded to but still in decent shape. So I then started carrying larger knives including the other sebenza The large I've been carrying just about everyday for 10 years, It's does what ever I need from opening mail to driving a nail to gutting a deer. It's been just wonderful and I just wish I could have have it refinished. Is there anyone out there that would do it?

funny enough I just posted a thread about a BG42 blade I'm looking to restore (corrosion under washers/detent making action gritty).

I'm wondering after I sort the rust issue if I should Black Oxide code the blade to prevent future rust issues.

apply mineral oil if you used it for kitchen use or cutting up fruits etc, if not then apply gun oil to the surface from time to time..

BG-42 only has moderate corrosion resistance
