OK. Here's the scoop. It's official!

The BG-42 Field Knife (yet to be officially named) is a "Go." The blade length will be at about 5" and it has Zytel handles. This knife will also come with a leather sheath.

I've asked our marketing department to come up with more and better photos for you guys (including one of the sheath). Give us a week or two to get those taken and posted.

MSRP is reportedly $109.95...quite a bargain! Production will begin this fall.

Hi Misque,

You'll probably want to order one now and get it reserved. If you are unable to do that through your local dealer or internet dealer, you can order directly from us.

I'm begging for pictures. Hopefully they will be forthcoming.

If I was not so short of cash, I would buy one RIGHT NOW! This will be my first SOG knife and I will 100% buy one, when I get my fiscal situation sorted. Will there be a Kydex option?

Ron, that is one heck of a nice knife.

Hi Wayne,

It is a great looking knife! No, there will be no Kydex made for it. The only chance is if the Kydex sheath for the Recondo would work. When we get the production models in stock, I'll check to see if it fits.

Also it'd be cool to have 2 versions, coated and uncoated?
Ron, what's your word?
Mega thanks for the update

Ron,
Is it a flat ground knife or hollow?
Also, will it have a conventional two sided bevel, one sided, or will it depend on whether or not one gets the TiNi option?
I will be getting one of those!!! Can't wait...

Without data, it's just another opinion

Hi Bobby,

Here are absolutes: The "Field Knife" will be flat ground and have a slight recurve. The cutting edge will have a two-sided grind.

Regarding a "Field Knife" with a black TiNi coating, that very well might be an option, but Spencer was not ready to commit to it.

Sometime this fall is still the estimated date for production.

Hope this helps.

Thanks SOG
