custom shop 110, SOG X-42, Sebenza, Case Slimlock, CF Military

anything else, none of those is quite what I'm looking for

The custom shop has dropped BG42 as an option, replacing it with S30V. The SOG X42 is long out of production, with only old stock available ( there are some small ones available that I know of). The Sebenza would have to be used, or New old stock if you can find one. A.G.Russell currently has the Boker Helios sprint run of aluminium framed, liner lock BG42 bladed knives.

They are getting scarcer and scarcer. I have all except the sebenza and to me, the Spyderco is the best. The slimlock is beautiful, but too small. The Buck custom was the best of all as far as price, but alas, that's no more. Joe

Yeah, I was going to check on the secondary market for the 110, and I can find the X-42 on a few sites-though I'm not so hot on tantos. I wouldn't mind the Case for a gent's knife, but I'm still looking for something I could put in rotation against my M2 Ritter. Don't want a Sebenza, and the Military is longer than what I want. The Queens are neat, I'll have to keep those in mind with the Case if I decide to go that route. I just want to try the steel, see if I like it better in use and on the stone compared to the others I've used.

I just remembered, some of the early Buck/Striders were BG-42.

Mantis Knives :barf: has a small folder in BG-42.

Didn't Buck made a limited run of 112's in BG-42? I think I remember some members sending in their 112's for replacement blades in BG-42 that were left over. May be wrong on that though. :o

Hoping Spyderco uses more of it in the future...Sal seems to have only positive things to say about the steel. They really out-did themselves on that new sprint run Military. Heat treat was dead-on.

I have a Buck Custom 110 with a BG-42 blade. Waterbuffalo scales to boot.

Love it. Dont carry it much but love it all the same.

The Mantis Knife in BG42 is Non existant. They have it printed on paper but it doesnt exist yet. Check the website and it's nowhere listed. I saw a guy on ebay sell a 420HC knife as BG42. I put in a complaint to e-bay but the listing never came down.

By the way, that Boker Helios in BG42 is a very nice knife. The only thing that keeps it from perfection is that it's a liner lock. A good one, but a liner lock never the less. JL
