My Sebenza has BG-42 and I like it better than any other stainless steel I have used! It will get extremely sharp and holds a good edge....should be more stain-resistant than ATS-34.

My very positive experience with BG-42 in my Sebenza led me to request the same material in a custom piece I ordered from Trace Rinaldi. Like my Sebenza, it's a great knife, stays sharp, requires little care, seldom sharpening, and continues to impress me. I like it alot, though I'm still curious about CPM440V and Talonite. We'll see, though, maybe I'll have to talk to Trace some time soon when funds permit.

I made several Kraits with Bg42. I feel its a step up from ATS34. My favorite at this time is CPM 420v. Its fantastic steel. The Talonite is great also. CPM 440v Is a second choice after these two.
As for heat treating the BG42 warps less that AST 34. The grain is better refined
