I have a master series knife and am quite impressed with the bg-42 steel. I was wondering if Buck was planning to use this steel in any of their production knives in the near future. Anyone have any leads?

Hi Ken,
They sure are. Pete was just posting in the "What if" thread that Buck wants to do a limited edition 532 this year and they may use BG-42. Also you can get a customized Buck 110 in BG-42 from Pete's Custom Shoppe.

I agree, I think the master series in BG-42 was a great idea!

All,
Please note that the Chuck Buck signature knife (model 400)is available in this year's catalog. It is made with BG-42 steel.

We are finalizing what models we are going to make available in BG-42, ATS 34, 17-7ph,and 420HC. We are evaluating each knife for the type of use it should expect and trying to match the steel for the use.

Matching needs for edge retention, ductility and corrosion resistance.

We will share when we get closer to product introductions and business plan for year 2000.
