Hey All!
I was perusing the exchange forums and saw a fair amount of Spyderco Para Military Carbon Fiber w/BG-42 up for trade or sale. I just picked one of these up and I am wondering if there is something amiss with this particular knife that I should be concerned about? I have many Spyders and adore each and every one of them. I have had Spyders since the 80's when everyone laughed at me and said "look, it's made in Japan. Couldn't afford a Buck or Schrade?" I was a believer way back then! Anyway... Anyone with some info regarding any problems with this particular model, it would be interesting & helpful... Thanks! ~baba~

That is a model that I have been sorely tempted to buy. From all the reports that I have seen, there have been no real negative experiences out there with it. The BG-42 is just as good as S30, too bad more makers don't use it.

In my opinion, it's the best military model ever made. Is has some other advancements in it besides just one of my favorite steels. It's tough, sharp, smooth and reliable. What else can you expect.

BG42 is difficult to keep as a production knife steel that uses large batches for many knives. It's an expensive steel that has a few more things that makes it more difficult, and more expensive than say, S30V, It's main competitor. As long as you aren't prying or doing other stuff you shouldn't it should last you, and your kids, and possibly theirs. It takes a good edge, possibly not as toothy as S30V but still lasts well. JL

Hey You guys! Thanks for the feedback. That is what I needed to hear. I Love the knife and have sought after one that didn't cost me an arm and a leg for some time. Well I have it, it's awsome, and again I thank you fellows for responding... ~baba~

Para Military? You sure? I was under the impression that it was only the full sized Military that got the BG42/Carbon Fiber treatment. ???

I'd love to own a couple of the Para Military versions, if they exist.

WOW!!!My Bad!!! I am mistaken in my excitment. Not a Para Military, It is the fullsized Military. I do that alot and I don't usally have the help of sharp intellects to keep me honest such as you all. I can only become smarter in this forum. Yet my Q is the same. Any problems heard of regarding the (C36CFBGP)? Thanks Danbo! But wouldn't it be cool to have a Para Mili BG42 in the line-up? Thanks.... ~baba~

Let's hope Sal and the gang read this and act upon our wishes!
