BG BATAC vs. INFI

Here we have a BATAC LE, the BG (Desert Sage with Black Canvas), and a CG (in a Company Store exclusive combo of Black with Black and Blue G10):





Compared to the CG, the handle on the BG is a little wider, and the blade is just a hair broader, but otherwise I'm hard pressed to see a difference.
 
Maaannnn! These photos, JtT, are making it EXTREMELY difficult to resist the temptation to try to grab a BATAC BG! :mad:
 
Thank you for these comparisons John! This helps me immensely! It does look like a sheath built for the regular BATAC has a good chance of fitting the BG, do you think? THough the scales look thicker on the BG.

I think it would work. The scales on the BG are noticeably thicker than those on the CG's standard thickness Bruiser G10. I think it's similar to what was originally offered as a magnum handle on the BATAC, but I haven't confirmed that yet.

As for the blade width, I didn't use calipers or anything, but it appears to be not more than a mm wider. I don't think I have any BATAC custom kydex (although they fit nicely in a short Spec Ops), I did pick up the fitted leather sheath that they were selling at the Company Store back in '07, or thereabouts. When I get a chance, I'll see how it fits and report back.

The BG fits in the original BATAC leather sheath. It feels like there's a bit more contact with the sheath, but it's not like there's significant resistance or the stitching might get cut or anything like that. But just a little more room at the bottom of the sheath wouldn't hurt.

It is a bit thick in the handle, though. I think this sheath was for the BATAC CG with the standard handle:



The end of the handle on the BG is significantly thicker than even the magnum handled CG. For comparison, here's a CG with standard snakeskin micarta, a CG with magnum tan canvas micarta, and a BG with sage canvas micarta:

The handle on the BG looks a lot more contoured as well, very nice! Looks like I'm good with a few small adjustments!
