BG Ultimate Pro: I got a dud

I ordered a BG Ultimate Pro knife on amazon for $60 after reading all the great reviews, but when it came in it was bareley skin flaking sharp. After sharpening it with my stones and stropping it, because of the steel, it was still the same consistency of edge. Upon batoning some soft plywood in my back yard, the edge was totally chipped, a milimeter in, in some areas. Better than 440C, my arse. Anyone else have a bad expierience with this knife?

I am sure it's a crappy knife, most people here would advise against it.

but based on what you wrote, you did not sharpen or strop the edge. More likely you just rode the shoulders for a bit.

"Batoning soft plywood?" no such thing.

As always, pics would be nice.

Basically nobody here has even seen this knife in person. Everybody jumped on the collective bandwagon for Gerber and Bear Grylls hating because it was trendy. Quite a few people are happy with some of the Bear Grylls knives, it just isn't the best knife, especially for the price. QC is kinda shotty for Gerber, but it is just as bad with CRKT and nobody has a reading hate on for them.
