The title says it all. They are very nice, and SHARP. The deep hollow grind along with E2K make these some really fine cutters.

Three scale finishes, Walnut, Cherry and Indigo(blue). The Cherry seems to be the richest color with walnut close behind. The blue ones are a bit pale for my taste.

If I could figure out how to post pictures here, I would do it, but I haven't been able to get that done. I'm still working on that so if I figure it out, I'll put some up.

CJ, your folks did a good job on these. Give 'em an attaboy for me.

Dennis, how much do the 532's cost? Shipping? You think red looks the best for a dress type knife. I thought I might like blue but if it is very light blue I don't know. Do these come with a belt sheath? The buck page is not clear on sheaths.

The price on the 532s is $100.00. Shipping is included. CA deliveries, add sales tax. (sorry, I don't charge it, I just collect it.)

The red is definitely the best looking of the bunch with the walnut a close second. The blue is not real light but it isn't as rich a color as the other two. It still looks better than the prototype did.

I have already sold all but one of the red ones and I have only had them four days. Still have some brown and blue ones.

They come with a belt pouch (black).

I got a red one from Dennis. He's right about the edge. The Edge 2000 is a quantum leap forward for Buck... very, very sharp!

Now to clarify, the red is really cherrywood, almost identical to the original early '90s scales. I buffed up my bolsters and BG-42 blade with white rouge and the puppy shines with it's near mirror gloss.

What I wish Buck had done was to offer desert ironwood or mastadon ivory with this BG-42 blade. Well, there's still hoping PCKS will eventually add the 532 to its offerings

I bought a walnut (but not from Dennis ... sorry Dennis). To echo Bob, the edge is quite a bit different from the 532MS ... MUCH sharper (I measured it at 28 degrees, compared to 44 degrees for the 532MS. My 501MS still holds the record at 25 degrees).

The swivel action is smoother too. On my 532MS, the blade often needed two hands to unlock, but not so with this one ... although it's hard to tell if these are idiosyncrasies common to different manufacturing lots. I'll give Buck the benefit of the doubt, given that Joe mentioned (some time back) there'd be an improvement in the quality.

I'll frankly admit I like this one better than the 532MS if only because it feels more like a working knife now that it not so darned purdy. A better edge and mechanics helps too.

Get 'em while they last ... would love to see a pix of Bob's cherrywood version (hint, hint). I don't have a digital camera anymore, or I'd drop some "baby" pictures myself.

I picked one of the red versions as well, Dennis is right about the color being richer on these. I wouldn't mind having a blue one to use as an everyday beater, but the red one is going to be babied. I'm thinking about making a sheath for inside the pocket carry, one that would fill the pocket from side to side and have a pocket in the middle that will hold the knife upright. That way it won't flop around and it'll be protected too.
Dennis was telling me about the William & Henry pocket sheaths that have a clip on them, that would also be a neat carry method for this knife.
I'm real happy with the 532, really a NICE little knife. Way to go Buck!

On the subject of leather slip pouches for the 532: I received some of the new William Henry leather "Clip Cases" yesterday. These are some really nice black leather slip pouches with a pocket clip attached to them so that knives without clips can be carried clipped to the pocket. They are good quality leather and hold the knife securely without scratching it. There are three sizes.

The 532 fits nicely into the clip case made for the WH T12 model. (The largest size) Less than 1/4" of the knife sticks out of the top of the pouch and makes for an easy grasp to pull the knife out.

It works very well and should be considered by anyone who wants to carry a 532 or similar sized knife clipped to the pocket. You might check with your local cutler to see if he has received any of these and try them out.

Now, if the 532 only had a thumb stud.....(Sigh).

Thumbstuds? And I thought I was getting tired of seeing those.

The 532 opens one-handed with some effort using some complicated hand english and my thumbnail in the nick (or whatever you call it).

Most times I need it opened in a hurry, I just pinch the blade and drop the handle ... it's heavy enough to swing open and lock without too much trouble.

Yeah. I know, but I'd still like to see a thumbstud on them. If the William Henrys can function well with them the 532 ought to do well with one. Just a little one. Doesn't have to be anything ...big.
