Thanks for the info... I've been wanting to put a face to the WWII I just received. What a handsome bunch of devils lol.

Wow, now I need to readjust my name / face recognition input data bank. I shall print that photo and apply the proper names for future reference.

is bhakta the only higher caste kami? or do they all have dots I cant see?

Looks like Lachhu and Amrit might have one, kind of vague though.

Is that what the dot means. Higher Caste? I seen the dot lots of times on woman but never on men?

I'm also trying to figure out the bus in the background. All them folks waiting for a kami photo op before they can get on down the road? No mirror on the driver side, I think it's the driver side anyhow, he's facing forward. They drive on the wrong side of the road over there too?

I better study up on my worldliness. Cept for Canada a few times in my youth, I never been to a whole nuther country before.

The red dot for a man, is usually a Tilak, usually worn for a ceremony (eg. marriage, or religious ceremony), or to denote a to/fro a trip or campaign (eg. traveling to get 5160 leaf springs).

Not sure 100% positive, but it's my understanding of the red dot for Hindi men.

I know the red dot on men is called tilak which means mark and is for religious/marriage/spiritual reasons, but not "caste".

Yes, that's right, in Nepal they don't drive on the right side of the road (just like neighboring India, which "inherited" the custom from Britain, I guess).

Another photo of the bus -- the khukuri express:

Wow, that helps... So is that an HI bus then. Use it to pick up stuff, maybe haul the kami's to and fro the shop etc.

Explains why the picture was took in front of it.

It was rented for the trip to manakamana temple.

...It should read:

Lachhu, Young Sher, Rajkumar,Bhakta, Amrit and Tirtha.

I'm confused here, since I thought the guy with the prominent mustache was Tirtha. Isn't he the same guy that Yangdu identifies as Tirtha in this thread:

New Kami Tirtha is making HI Parang

Also, in the thread with the bus, there is a photo with the mustached guy (who I thought was Tirtha) with his wife and a couple kids:

The guy I thought was Bhakta is pictured eating with his wife and one child (which corresponds to the bio information that Bhakta had one child, a son):

... ...[/QUOTE]"]

And, in the bus thread, it's interesting to see that there are photos of the guy who I thought was Tirtha playing the madal drum (Tirtha's mark). Is this guy really Bhakta instead of Tirtha? Also mentioned in that thread is that Tirtha married Rajkumar's sister, and there are multiple photos of the guy I thought was Tirtha posing with Rajkumar, along with their family members. Not hard evidence, but it makes me wonder.

My motivation is not to prove anyone wrong here, I'm just trying to clear this up for me, at least.
Am I totally off base here?
