My new Blind Horse "Bush Pig" arrived today, and the out-of-the-box impression is a solid 11.
I own quite a few knives, but this is one is pretty unique.
Specs:
•Overall Length - 8 3/4”
•Sharpened Edge - 3 3/4”
•Steel - 5/32" A2
•Handles - 4 1/2” Bead-Blasted Green Micarta
•Full Convex Edge with secondary bevel
The handle is extremely comfortable in a variety of different grips, and it really fills the hand nicely (I have med/large hands).
The massive spear point and stout spine make for a pretty confidence-inspiring tool. Yet the full convex grind = a taper to the edge that feels nice and slim and capable of finer slicing.
Unlike longer & narrower spear point blades (which often seem to make many such knives fairly woodcraft-specific), the Bush Pig blade actually has enough depth to it to create some belly and as a result, I'm curious to see how it will do with dressing big game/hunting tasks in addition to more standard bushcraft uses. All in all, it feels pretty darn versatile for a whole variety of uses beyond just woodwork, which is exactly what I've been searching for.
The sheath is also really well made (as is every BHK sheath I have), fits the knife very well, and offers belt or "dangler" options.
I'm heading on a 5-day trip into some remote parts of Wyoming in the upcoming week, and the Bush Pig will be getting a fair bit of use in the process. More to come...
