I was curious if any of you guys had the Blind Horse Pathfinder knife, and what ya'll thought about it. how does the scandi grind cut with the thick 3/16 blade? seem's like it would make an awesome bushcraft knife. also any other BHK knives you guys might have, they have several that are really nice looking. thanks for any info.

also any pic's would be sweet:)

Don't have the pathfinder but I have a Bushcrafter and a custom of my design from BHK. They make tough, useful knives that cut. The knives I have from them come razor sharp and the quality for the price you pay is top notch

I can't say I like this knife at all. Going off of use from other knives I've owned I can't see a 3/16" thick scandi being all that great unless you only want it for wood working and batoning. For general use thick scandi's really suck IMO. I have 1/8" thick Koster scandi and wish it were thinner. If you want the knife to do anything that involves the knife passing through material like cutting a potatoe or an onion, stay away. I was using the Koster just last night to cut a potatoe in half and it split the potatoe apart instead of cutting it. I quickly gave up on it and picked up a knife with a flat grind. IMO thick scandi knives are very specific to the work they can do. An aspect I don't want in a knife. In fact I would choose to cut food with a hatchet then my Koster. And I have. :D

My son and I have a set of Bushcrafter/Bushbaby combos.

I love the knives, and for the money, I don't know what the Pathfinder would do any better than the Bushcrafter.

Although I would love any BHK knife.

For my average sized mitts, I would call it a 3 1/2 finger knife.......will try to get a pic tonight it I can remember.

Blindhorse knives are amazing knives you wont go wrong with any of them. I have a bushcrafter, frontier patch and a little one that I forgot the name of. The bushcrafter is the best bushcrafting knife ever made! Dan and Lt are good people too.

Blind horse knives are awesome but I think the Pathfinder is nearly double the cost it should be just cos it's associated with Dave Canterbury !

As I posted in a previous thread about this knife:

I think it was $130 when first introduced. Someone might correct me on this but I do know it jumped up a hell of a lot in price.I think $150-$200 would be a fairer price not $275 !!!

I'm pretty sure it is my favorite outdoor knife, although i'm not sure I would enjoy it as much if I hadn't gotten it for the introductory price.

In comparison to other BHK offerings of the same materials, it does seem over priced. I am not sure how I feel about the shape. Seems just 'off' to me.

While it is overpriced for a BHK I don't fault Dave for it; you are after all paying two people/companies...BHK and Dave. Want a cheaper knife? Just buy a regular BHK and don't pay Dave a single cent.

The reason why I don't fault Dave for it, other than the reason stated above, is that in his videos Dave talks about low cost knives that you can carry all the while his Pathfinder knife is sitting there in the pile. Dave is not telling you to buy his knife and that all other knives are crap, he is leaving it up to you to buy whatever knife you want. Dave only cares that the knife you do buy works for you when you are in the woods.

sirjames, that is why i allmost bought one. dave is an awesome person, in person, and he doesnt try to push his products on you. i like the knife and i would buy one if it was about 175 bucks cheaper, maybe two!

Had one of the first runs with the original logos. Then $175.00 + $75.00 for kydex sheath. Not a bad price really. Remember this is not a production knife. It is very well made and designed. I sold mine as I'm not crazy about knives where the handle is not on the same plane as the edge (drop edge). Just personal preference, otherwise a very capable knife. Scandi edged too.

I agree that was a very fair price back then for the quality you are getting !

I'm not going to comment on whether or not the knife is worth the price or not.

I do want to point out that it comes with the kydex sheath for $275. That means it is $25 more than the $175 + $75 price you listed.
