Last year, I picked up a BHK bushcrafter, after reading an article in Backwoodsman by our very own moderator, and seeing some reviews. Great knife, but I do not like coatings (I know, I know, for the 4140 saw blade steel), and the handle was unfortunately too small for my paws. I'm fickle, I know...
At Scott Gossmans Columbus Day weekend campout, Tim Stetzer told me to check out the Scaatycrafter, a beefier version of the Bushcrafter made specifically for a member on Knifeforums. I just picked up my Scaatycrafter on the way to work this morning.
The day started out pretty crappy. It's cold, raining, gonna turn to snow later today. I am sick as a dog, I feel like I got run over by a truck, and then it backed up again to finish the job. Some other crap going on too. Getting the Scaatycrafter was a bright spot this morning.
This knife is just right for my paws! O1 uncoated blade, black micarta scales. Fits just right. I foresee a good weekend in the woods with this knife. LT, Dan, Tim and Scaaty collaborated on a great knife! I can't wait to get out and use it. Great edge too!
