canonfan11,
I just wanted to share this with you, since you are not a Gold member, I had to post it here, this was too long to post on your profile page. I sent this to Steve after seeing your gifts to your kids.... Thank you for a great idea and please thank your son and daughter for their service...
Boomer (Steve),
I came across the thread where 2 Air Force edition PM2 knifes/scales were made/modified by you. As a father of an Airman that truly brought tears to my eyes, the workmanship was unbelievable! When my son graduated from basic training 4 years ago I presented him with a Benchmade Mini-Grip with AWT honeycomb scales, both he and I had matching knives and it really started his interest in knives. He spent three years serving in Washington DC. as part of the Honor Guard, one of his duties was doing ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and I was honored to be a witness multiple times while he and his fellow Airman pay their respects to the families of their fallen brethren.
He has since completed tech school (propulsion mechanics) earlier this year and is assigned to Offutt AFB near Omaha, NE. I would really like to honor him with a knife of similar design as shown in the PM2's that you created for cannonfan11. Again, absolutely beautiful work! I am not sure about the specific requirements for blade lengths on base, I asked my son last night and he was going to see what the official restrictions are, but just in case it is 3 inches or less, could you do a similar set for a Para 3? I have seen your work elsewhere and wasn't sure whether you had done a PM3 set or not...
Once my son gets back to me on base restrictions, I would like to commission you to do a set of scales for him, he has no idea I'm doing this, big surprise! I am so proud of him and the young airmen he serves with, this idea has got me thinking about an even bigger order as a special run for the men and women who serve, you interested in such a task as well?
Thank you,
Robert Damkroger
