This is over a year late, but here goes!

I picked up one of BHQ's M4/Jade PM2's last year and while the jade scales were cool, they weren't all THAT cool, and I needed something more discreet for an EDC. After doing some research here for G10 scales/liners/back spacer, I decided to go with Steve and shot him an email to which he promptly responded.

Fast forward through plenty of comms and tweaks and this was the result:

Super happy with Steve and his work!

Steve does great work! I've bought many scale sets from him and they have all been perfect! Actually I have 2 sets of scales sitting at the house, waiting for a host. Congrats on your new Boomer scales, they look awesome!

cannonfan11 at the same time also ordered an additional two sets of identical custom blacked out PM2 scales for his son and daughter. They had just entered the Armed Services at the time and began serving our country. Here's a few photos of those knives that a proud Dad presented as gifts to his children...

Alex... I hope the kids are thriving in the Air Force...!

Another couple amazing set of knives, yes! My son got his and he's probably worn his in more than mine! My daughter will be graduating from tech school in a few months, and I'll be giving hers at that time. Both are 100% engaged in their careers of choice and absolutely thriving in that environment!

Great to hear from you, Steve!

Great work, as usual!
(I need to hurry up and get in line for some of these!)

canonfan11,

I just wanted to share this with you, since you are not a Gold member, I had to post it here, this was too long to post on your profile page. I sent this to Steve after seeing your gifts to your kids.... Thank you for a great idea and please thank your son and daughter for their service...

Boomer (Steve),

I came across the thread where 2 Air Force edition PM2 knifes/scales were made/modified by you. As a father of an Airman that truly brought tears to my eyes, the workmanship was unbelievable! When my son graduated from basic training 4 years ago I presented him with a Benchmade Mini-Grip with AWT honeycomb scales, both he and I had matching knives and it really started his interest in knives. He spent three years serving in Washington DC. as part of the Honor Guard, one of his duties was doing ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and I was honored to be a witness multiple times while he and his fellow Airman pay their respects to the families of their fallen brethren.

He has since completed tech school (propulsion mechanics) earlier this year and is assigned to Offutt AFB near Omaha, NE. I would really like to honor him with a knife of similar design as shown in the PM2's that you created for cannonfan11. Again, absolutely beautiful work! I am not sure about the specific requirements for blade lengths on base, I asked my son last night and he was going to see what the official restrictions are, but just in case it is 3 inches or less, could you do a similar set for a Para 3? I have seen your work elsewhere and wasn't sure whether you had done a PM3 set or not...

Once my son gets back to me on base restrictions, I would like to commission you to do a set of scales for him, he has no idea I'm doing this, big surprise! I am so proud of him and the young airmen he serves with, this idea has got me thinking about an even bigger order as a special run for the men and women who serve, you interested in such a task as well?

Thank you,
Robert Damkroger

Thank you for the kind words, Robert! Arlington Honor Guard...wow! Please pass along my respect for his accomplishments! Service to our country has been transformational and the path they chose to take has been one that's of great pride, given the options they had to choose from.

All the best with your project and to your family!

V/r,
Alex.
