I thought that I'd better bring this one up lest' we begin another uproar.
A while ago, I mentioned that Benchmade was promoting their unique new bi-directional texturing. I had mentioned (on the Spyderco forum) that Spyderco had been producing Bi-Directional texturing for a number of years. A "hey rube" seemed to develop on the forum over my comment.
I wrote to Lester regarding the Bi-Directional texturing and sent several copies of IP on the question. The patents were narrow in scope, but they did have valid dates. Lester and I wrote back and forth and in the end we reached an agreement. I received a letter from Lester not too long ago where he asked that I post the conclusion.
In the end, Benchmade agreed to acknowledge that Spyderco had been using bi-directional texturing for a number of years and Spyderco acknowledged that our IP did not cover their design.
