thoughts?

And in keeping with the notion of stupid names, this line-up of knives will include the Throat Cancer and Rectal Fissure.

cheers

Its disgusting that a company could be so moronic to name a tool after such a terrible disease. Why don't they just call it "Heart Disease" and have a customized picture of your favorite dead relative on it?

The name of this knife is stupid, if not openly insulting to people who have this disease or know someone who has it. I would be ashamed to own one, and hope others would as well.

(Not to mention its one of the ugliest attempted-neo-tactical-looking designs I have seen in some time..do they just throw together whatever is in the parts bin and stamp it on its way out the door?)

Providing that this knife was actually apart of their lineup, which it's NOT. The name describes what it is, whether you think it's politically correct or not.

Providing that this knife was actually apart of their lineup, which it's NOT currently. The name describes what it is, whether you think it's politically correct or not. Especially when the disorder you speak of is spelled Bipolar.

Whether they can etymologically justify the name doesnt make it any less insulting, imho. i doubt the guy who named it was thinking of the latin roots when he threw the name on a piece of paper.

But hey, if you want it, buy it and wear that name proud!

I think Lithium would be a much better name. Yeah Sog should come out with a knife called Lithium and make everything better.

BTW i do fully admit there may be a viable reason to name the knife this, but my instant asociation wasnt with the scientific term. Im not sure its a conscious choice they made, but it is however, a foolish one. Its pretty much marketing 101 that you avoid situations as name association is one of the key considerations when naming a product. I'd assume 90% othe public assoicate the word bipolar with the disease rather than a bipolar magnetic field...

Not gonna beat a dead horse..i just thought it was in poor taste...
