I have been given my late uncle's knife he bought new in the 60's and wanted to share. I saw they only made a few of these and am thinking this might be an early one.

He actually used to keep this next to his bed in case he had any uninvited visitors. He never had any but he did take it on an Alaskan hunt once. That might be the only time it left his house.

Regards to all ------------

Thanks. He bought this knife at Abercrombie and Fitch in NYC along with his Remington 870 Wingmaster. I was around seven years old and it was the first firearm I ever touched and later shot. I have put many rounds through that since he gave it to me.

There is no serial number on the knife so I guess date of manufacture would be tough. I have read on this site that John Cooper made 100 of each model. Pretty amazing history and a real testimony to the man himself.

Looks like the one I had and took to Vietnam in 1967. Never carried it in the field as it would rust if you looked at it wrong. Had a going away party at the C-Team in Pleiku, scrounged some 8-pound blocks of hamburger meat, which I cut up with the Bianchi/Cooper and the blood stained the blade right up to the stamped names. Cleaned it up, but you could still see where the blood stain was. People would ask me how it got stained, and I would be honest that it was cutting hamburger, but they would not believe me. Then I would say OK, there were 3 NVA crawling into our position.... and they would believe a lie but not the truth. It was later stolen on Okinawa, hopefully the thief fell on the blade. John
