Biathlon rifle+skis just started

I used to shoot with biathletes, years ago. Going by our shot groupings alone, you would think that we were almost on par with each other, which was a source of pride for me. Of course, they did their shooting right after running laps, so that puts things into some context. ;) I have loads of respect for those who compete in this sport.

i'm amazed at the breathing control they have after a hard lap. The Army should put a sniper rifle in their hands.........

Not to take away from anything they do, because it is difficult, but shooting at a target 50 yards away with a ridiculously accurate rifle with zero recoil isn't the same as hitting something with a proper rifle. Most biathaletes I've known aren't fantastic shots outside of their specific niche.
 
many biathletes are professionel soldiers over here. the reason why is, that the german army has very good training centers. so a lot of these young guys decide to go to the army, especially for the training. and, due to their effort in the sport, they don´t have to go to war. it´s crazy

Known to be the fittest dudes on earth. They have a very specific breathing technique to calm their pulse/breathing prior to shooting. Crazy sport with obvious military roots.
