Hey guys I am looking for a computer for my bike, nothing fancy in the 20-35 buck range, seems to be alot out there in that range any sugestions to which is the best bang for the buck, and a decent online places to get them , I will probly just go to a shop around me but if you guys know of a great place with great prices well... I have looked at the cateye, sigma and velo stuff .

any help would be great

I bought three echo T3 models, almost 15 years ago, with only one battery replacement required. They are the basic give speed, add up for total distance, and for each trip distance, give average speed, etc. Only thing I will warn you about, and I thing this will apply to all brands, either cover or remove the indicator to protect from the sun, or it will glaze over and become unreadable. The two units for my and my wifes bikes still work very well, however the thrid one was left out in the sun, and while it will still work, is not of much value. Get as simple as you can find which will give the basic info.

I have a cat eye for my mountain bike (what are you riding- road or mountain?) beaten it up but it still works like a charm. I do have the wireless version though- probably wouldn't work if it was wired.

I used a cateye combo (heart-rate-monitor-computer) for years with no problems whatever.
I have a Specialized on my patrol bike...It too has been working for years. Most of these are pretty well done; If you buy a wired model look for good, sturdy wires instead of the hair-thin ones.
 
The most reliable computer I've had was a Cateye Astrale 8. It's hard wired so not the cleanest installation. However, it has cadence function which I appreciate on a road bike. It was around $25-30 on sale at a discounter about 6-7 years ago.

I have seen very, very few issues with the Trek Incite computers at my shop. $30 will get you a basic, wired unit. $50 will get you a basic wireless. I've been running the 9i wireless for about 2-3 years. Replaced batteries once but never had ANY issues- and that includes a lot of time in the snow.

Cateye makes good stuff too, make make sure if you go wired you get the models with HD wires as I've seen a lot of problems with the standard models.
