Just got my new bifocal eye glases today, I'm an old man now. It's the down hill slope from now on. Tomorrow I plan to go shopping for pants that come up to the middle of my chest, Maybe try out a walking cane, have dinner by 4:30 pm and bed by 8:30pm.

Have you been fitted for your Old Man Hat yet? You will be required to wear one while driving so the rest of us will know to give you plenty of room.

Now you get to mix up the names of your children, grandchildren, and dogs -- you can even call your wife by the dog's name. Also you're allowed to get up and go in another room and then forget what you came for.

Man, I'm 27, and diabetes is slowly but surely taking my memory and sight. I mix up my siblings names, my dogs names, my cats names and, uh... Oh right. I don't need bifocals yet.

:D And lets not forget the part about having it in your hands all the time:) Wait - there's more....you have bifocals but you still have to peer over the top to view stuff close up. I've had bifocals for about 7 years now. Now that I think about it - about the time I crossed that big FIVE - OH:D Also - mind thinks young but body tells you otherwise:) Then, of course, there's that myth about as you get older life slows down so you can enjoy life more - it's just that - a myth. I'm finding that time is speeding up:)

Went out for dinner tonight, Ordered off the senior menu, Smaller portions but the bifocals make the food look bigger! Dang that ketchup is spicy!

I've been wearing one of those caps with the fold down ear flaps for the last couple of winters. Something happened around age 40. One day I went from thinking, "That is the dorkiest looking hat I have ever seen" to "Hey that looks like a mighty clever idea, I have to get me one of those"

Well, I got fitted for my first bifocals when I was still a freshman in high school, so don't worry too much about the aging. Worry more about walking down stairs :) .

Bifocals?

First set for me was when I was 10.

I had them into my early teens, and did without them up until now.

Next set of specs next month will be bifocals again. I'm tired of peering over the top to see up close. :(

Oh, and I'm 44 now.

Right! What's this bi-focal nonsense? They went out with pebble-lenses...get some progressives, you don't need to peer over them and well, they sound a lot cooler too...

I've had a pair for years. Helps me to see what I'm doing whem I'm making knives.

The thing that bugged me for awhile was going down stairs. I had to retrain my self to tilt my head down to see where I was going...

I've had progressive bi-focals for aver 20 years. They work great and don't let ANY physical limitation slow you down. You ain't old till you quit.

the main thing to remember about old age aches, pains and other ailments is that they beat the alternative.

;) ;) ;)

I've been wearing bifocals for some time, maybe 10 years. I well remember the first day I went to work wearing them. Those who wear them are familiar with the odd perception thing you get when descending stairs; kind of like you're 10 feet tall.
Well, I had not been at work more than an hour when I get involved in a foot pursuit and the suspect ran down the long flight of stairs that lead down to street level on the North side of campus.
That was an interesting trip! Felt like I was sort of floating....
Caught the guy, though.

Now, I have a pair of "computer" glasses. These are the best thing since sliced bread for the computer user. No more tilting your head backwards to peer through the bifocal. And, a nice no-glare coating that makes the screen appear sharper.
