A fellow forumite asked me to make some kind of nearly indestructable survival knife for him, so here's what I've got started. A big piece of over 1/4" thick 5160(might've actually been 3/8" before scale started coming off) that was 1.5" wide and 12.75" long started this project. Cutting edge ended up 6.5" and there's PLENTY of handle, for anybody's hand on this one. Room to choke up or slide back for chopping. Yep, gonna have handles, too.
Orange G10. Right now, everything is relatively straight and the grinds are pretty even. Not heat treated yet, but I left plenty of edge thickness, so I'm not too worried.
Little one is a piece of CPM 154 that was laying on the bench. Considering the piece of steel was only about 5.5" long(actually, a smidge less), I think it ended up with a lot of useable blade. Not heat treated yet, but it will end up with a thin flat grind all the way to the spine. Not sure on the handles with this one. Maybe none, maybe paracord wrap, maybe some thin micarta; who knows?
