I love big axes! I like the impact that comes from letting gravity work. I love that I can cut in 1-2 swings what takes others minutes. I was just wondering how many of you love/use big axes as well.

To show you how much I love big axes with little handles:

CUTS LIKE A KRIS, hola

How much does that head weigh?

Eight pounds, 10 inch head. (just a little guy). So should I keep it for chopping up carrots?

I am actually about to try and make a new handle out of osage, as I could not find any good hickory yesterday, and thought that I would laugh at myself with the little handle.

I had entertained this idea for a while, but for offense/defense. A normal sized hatchet with a hand and a half grip.

Wow, those are some big axes. I tend to prefer a light head with a long handle, go figure.

Space is usually an issue with me and maybe it is the barbarian in me- although I do find that I get less tired with the big axes- proven when we heated the house and cooked on my great grandmother's wood stove. BTW have I ever mentioned that I love chopping wood- I just need to put a small spike on the poll to help me get logs without bending down as much.

Each their own and as long as they are being used it is all good!

They are limited only by the user- it makes fantastic fuzz/feather sticks, and I would think would be great at butchering (rabbits and squirrels of course).
