My buddy whacked this nice 300 lb. black bear in the Sierra's while we were deer hunting last weekend. He field dressed it, skinned, and boned it with my Spyderco Phil Wilson South Fork knife. I helped with the skinning and boning out duties with my Fallkniven F2. Both knives performed flawlessly and remained super sharp during the entire process. That South Fork in S90v was like a scalpel the whole time, splitting ribs, cutting through bristly hide and bones. The Fallkniven VG-10 stayed sharp too. A great hunt and great use of some good hunting knives.

I have never been bear hunting and I probably never will but I know they give your knives a good workout. Up here I sometimes see 6 or 8 bears in a single day of driving.

Thats cool. There was a nice cinnamon bear in our hunting area this year that I would have loved to get. We saw all the signs he had been there, but never actually saw it.
My buddies friend came up to camp for a few days, and he saw it. Said it wasn't a monster, but had really nice color

Cinnamon's are hard to come by. He'll be that much bigger next year. :) I bet he's a nice one. Man, those critters are stealthy for being so big.

Nice, I think I would want a serious back up handgun if I was after bear with a bow. I have seen how fast they can get up a tree, freaked me out. That could ruin your day if he made it up there and clamped down on a leg before he checked out.

Great job! I'd love to see more pics of the knives in action, both are good knives for this task! BTW, I don't even want to know what that bear was licking - that's one nasty looking tongue! :D

Those boogers are stealthy, I tell you. Had a pair of males watching me on a recent job site..smelled the pee. Found plenty of activity and tracks. It wasn't fun at all. :-) I've found black bear stock to make a good soup, especially with de-threaded celery and chopped onions! The meat, to me, tastes oddly like beef. Good though! Nice kill there.
