Tommorrow starting at 0800 I'll be at Dave Canterbury's Pathfinder School taking his 4 day Survival Basics course. Will be taking my BK9 and the BK2 as my two primary blades which I will switch out here and there, as well as a Mora 511 with my new bushcrafter kydex sheath. Will try and get some good pics. Just wish the weather would make up its f-ing mind wbat it going to do. I'd prefer dry and cool, but it's looking more like 75-80 and humid.

Wow I'm so envious! Have a great time, I'm positive you'll learn a lot. Can't wait for your review.

BTW, the becker forum rocks.

That's a sweet trip - should be really cool. I am hoping the weather holds for you - chance these could be some wet pics.

Don't get cut! Or at least don't let Dave get near it with gunpowder!

Have a great time, bring back some pics!

Have fun, be safe. I think its gonna be a good time for you. Bring back pics, knowledge, and a photo of Dave C. holding a Becker. I'll send ya a Necker or ESKabar if you do. :D

I'll try. If you look at the class syllabus, at the end it says that any and all pictures taken of Dave are considered the property of the school. The politics of fame and being on a big show I guess.

Taking a few BKT's will help a lot. When everyone else is busy trying to burn a hole in a log to boil water, you'll be relaxing.

All you have to do is baton a BK9 into a log and it will break into a bowl, spoon, fork and pot holder with one blow. Then to sterilize the water, just dip the BK2 into the water and any contaminants leave the water out of respect. You can also start a fire just by holding a BK11 in a tinder bundle. However, do not strike any 2 BKT's together blade to blade - that is how Hurricane Katrina happened. True story.

You lucky bastard. That's gonna be a hoot. Have a great time and we expect to hear every detail.

Everyone else already said what I was gonna say. So be safe, have fun, bring back lots-o-pix

Likewise. Sounds like a good selection of Beckers, too. 2 + 9 = Nadz style

Oh, and have a great time and bring back a crapton o' pics! :D

Sorry for the delay....It's been a crazy week.

Trip was great....sorta. The school was great, the lessons were great, Dave was cool as hell (banked about 9-10 hours campfire shoot-the-shit timewith him) and it was fun. The weather sucked, and I got wore the hell out. Because of that, I am starting on P90X next week.

Because of the recent flooding, the long walk from the car to the camp was in shin-deep mud. The camp where we actually slept was about 100 yards up a 45degree hill. The nights got progressivly colder, ending at 42 degrees and rain. Did I mention the sil-ny hammock I was in?

So that aside, I had a great time even though I was physically uncomfortable. I just kept telling myself "It's survival school dickhead, not camping!"

As for the knives...the Mora 511 got the most use, followed closely by the BK9. The '2 didn't get used as much, though I did baton some logs. The 9 just felt better to me for chopping, batoning, and even using it as a hammer at one point. I didnt go easy on them.

No, I didn't get a pic of Dave with a Becker. Didn't even ask. Here are some pics I took:

I have been doing SOO much picture and video stuff as well as reorganizing my things I just haven't had the time this week to get online much. I did learn some lessons just by doing stuff which I'll share later (dont have the list in front of me)

Here's a video shot today practicing some skillz in the backyard:

Great pictures! I bet you had a blast. What types of knives did folks carry? When it came to fire making what did you use?
