I just recently purchased a store setup for my web site to make ordering a knife from me much easier. No more e-mailing back and forth to workout all the little details, which I believe will make the proses much faster, easier, and more enjoyable all the way around.

The store is nowhere near being finished yet, but it's a start! I plan to add more knives and options in the near future. I encourage you guys to take a look, spread the word and give me your feedback on the new store setup!

Thank you to everyone who has helped support AA Forge Custom Knives!!!

It looks great Adam!

I'm with you S.B. I keep seeing a lot of great comments and remarks (well deserved) on various forums about your work Adam. It's going to get busier. I'm glad I have one ordered as well. :D

Thank you guys for all the comments!

I have been extremely busy which is why I invested in the store setup. I've been having a hard time keeping up with all the e-mails and it is really getting in the way of work which has put me behind on my orders. With this new setup it will drastically cut down on the e-mails and in the long run make me far more productive; which means faster turn around times!

Thanks again!

Adam, I checked it out and it looks fantastic. I even set up my account for ease of my future orders. I didn't notice the Camp Knife series in your selection, however. I'm going to venture a guess and say it is because you aren't finished populating the knives. I absolutely love mine. One of my best fixed blade investments ever!

Thank you 1SHOT1KILL! I appreciate your comments as well as you setting up an account.

I'm glad to hear your still loving your knife! I like to hear that people are getting some good use out of the knives I make. The camp knives are coming! I still have a lot to add to the site as well as working on some new knives that I think you guys will like.

Thanks!

hi adam.
I just took a look at the storefront. i took a moment to go through the selections. if i select micarta pins and liners, i presume that the pins will match the liners, correct?

Also, you may want to add a "Comments" box for "not sure what", but it seems like a good idea.

This does make ordering easy. the only downside that i can see is that you lose a little bit of the personal touch. I know all the reviews i have read of your knives include something like, "Adam was great to work with", "Great guy", etc.

I am glad to hear that you are busy.

I like the store. I'm sure email is a hard way to keep track of things. I just created an account and I'm looking forward to getting more of your great knives in the future.

ETA: I've been spreading the word about your finely crafted knives on many of the forums.

I like the website overall and you have some very nice large, clear photos. My only comment is that when I first looked at your new site I was on an iphone and the mobile version of your site. When I clicked to enlarge one of the product photos it locked my phone up completely for serveral minutes. It could have very well just been my phone or internet connection causing the problem but just thought I'd throw it out there.

Looks like we have 3 negative Nancy's voting.

Adam will have to jump in to verify what I'm about to type, but I think this may be the reasoning behind the three negatives...

I think the "I Don't Like" clicks were probably because they have already experienced the excellent communication with Adam and are scared that may be diminished and the knife ordering process will be less personal. I think once the order is in though, you'll still be able to contact Adam in other ways to tweak it a bit to suit your individual needs/desires. At least this way you can get in line and work out the details later.

Unless Adam is changing his business practice to only offering what you see in the configurations listed in the drop down boxes, I don't think this is a negative move at all. If he is trying to streamline for materials ordering and time management, then I can't blame him for that either, but from what I've experienced, a simple e-mail or call will get you a pleasant conversation with an excellent knife maker who has a willingness to make your knife truly "yours".

or, it could be their fingers slipped while posting on a cell phone or they just didn't like the layout. I found it easy to use and navigate, but some people like what they like. The Yes' waaaaaaay outnumber the No's, so I think the site is a winner!!!

You hit the nail right on the head Stump!

I have enjoyed working with you guys through e-mailing or calling back and forth; but it has gotten to the point that I'm 3-7 days behind with my e-mails most of the time and it has been putting me farther behind on orders trying to keep up. To me that is not acceptable. the goal of the store is to offer a quick and easy way for you to order a standard knife with standard options. I will still be available by phone or e-mail to place true custom orders with features not listed on the store or to ask questions or make small changes to your order. The only real change to how things work now is that because of the store and the fact that you need to pay upfront I will need to take all orders that way to keep things even and consistent. Whether by e-mail, phone or through the store I will need payment when the order is placed. I don't like having to take money for work I haven't done yet, but it is the only way it will work.

Another BIG reason for the store is to help me on the business side of things. Form taxes to supplies it will make things much easier to keep track of, and therefore I can spend more time in the shop and turn orders around quicker once things really get going.

All in all I think the store is going to be a big improvement! For anyone who has any constructive criticism your comment are more than welcome. My goal is to make the store the best I can and your feedback is part of it.

Thank you to everyone for all the comments and for voting in the poll!

I think streamlining your business by having the customer pick from predetermined options listed in the store is definitely the way to go. The fewer variables you have in the process, the fewer hang ups you'll have to deal with. It's been my experience that time spent dealing with avoidable problems, is time wasted. When you're trying to get things done, and you're having to go back and forth, there is no method, just chaos. And in a production environment, chaos doesn't work.

Adam.. I think you will love the new set up. You will be able to have some basic packages available to order right from the site. Custom orders are ok sometimes but they can be a bit of a downer too, I believe if you are a legit guy , (which you are) there is nothing wrong with taking payment for you work upfront. Anytime you buy something from any custom shop, I don't care what it is you have got to pay to play. I am proud to own a few of your knives you do excellent clean work. Good luck !

Thank you to everyone for all the comments!

I wanted to let everyone know that I have added a print and call option for those who would like to pay after the knife is finished. The only downside of it is that it will take longer to proses your order and therefore take longer for you to receive your knife.

Thanks again guys!
