This has been a fun knife to make, although it's taken me a lot longer than I thought. :D 16-inch overall length of 1/4-inch 0-1. The picture isn't very good, but I just shot it in the garage.

The wood underneath the knife is some 4x4 I tested the blade on after heat-treat and tempering.

As shown, it's just rough sanded to 600 grit. Tomorrow it gets a bead blast, and I will update with a better picture after that's done. Let me know what you all think of the design. Thanks for looking. :D

2 thumbs up for that one. That the finished version of what you posted earlier ? Its impressive. Names like Mega-Bite and T-Rex come to mind. Frankly I think it looks pretty darn good as it is. Jason.

That is a sweet knife, the 4x4 looks like it has seen better days though. Nice work

Thanks for the comments.

Jason, yup, this is the (almost) finished version -- Unfortunately, I hadn't been able to get back to it until this past weekend. BTW, I finally got in some more 1095, so I'll be trying out your "secret formula" that you sent me awhile back. :D

What say you guys, leather, or Kydex sheath?

Kydex. It just looks like a kydex kind of knife. Black leather would work too. Very nice knife, looks like it did a number on that 4x4!

Good idea, but I think I'm going to go with the HOS -- (Hunk Of Steel). Thanks for turning me in the right direction on naming it!

:)

How long is the blade? Looks to be about 10" which is my favorite big chopper length. Could you shoot me an email with the price when you get a chance? I really like that. tnc4evr@yahoo.com

You said you were going to beadblast it,Why?it is O1,bead blasting will increae rusting in low chrome steels.
IF you are going to BB it you may want to look into some spray
products(clear) that it backed on to protect the steel.I know Brownell sells it.Just some thoughts.Nice looking work overall handle looks
good and grippy,You have a nice tactical look about your knives
