My knife collection is lacking any large knives and i have found a need for a larger blade.I want it for survival/combat uses.I've narrowed it down to the Ontario Rtak II and the Becker BK-9
Both are large carbon steel blade, except the Rtak II is longer and thicker but more expensive.I like the fact that the BK-9 comes with the smaller BK-13 and seems like it offers similar performance at a cheaper price and less weight.

Which would you choose?

ESEE Junglas. But between those 2? I have a personal preference for a full flat grind and a drop point blade so i would probably go for RTAK2.

If I'm correct, isn't the RTAK actually a wee bit thinner than the BK9? I'd go for the BK9, regardless.

this one costs more money but if you want a great chopper --take the plunge. started with a razor edge , this hard mesquite was the 2nd day & although it would'nt cut typing paper it would cleanly slice an envelope.

It may not be a fancy piece of work, but I really like my Condor Kumunga. It's easy on the wallet and it can chop and baton like a champ!

I found it a bit too light to be a great chopper - not on par with the Becker BK-9, which I also recommend.
