After buying a CPM-10V Kephart from Big Chris off the custom makers forum here (also my first custom/handmade knife ever) I decide it might save me some money and space to just design a couple fixed blades that would cover all bases (Big Chopper, bushcraft, Urban survival/BOB knife/SERE Knife, and a light stainless drop point for hiking/hunting) instead of buying production knives that I like 75-90% of the things about them, why not just design something that would be IMO perfect.

so I emailed Chris with some thoughts on designs, he drew up some sketches, I took them into MS Paint and edited them/customized them a little more to what I had in mind and added in specs (blade thickness, handle material and color, steel, blade length etc) and later downloaded and used Google Sketchup to draw them better which made it easier to see with actual and accurate specs.

So here is the finished product (Chris' pics) I'll have to add my own pictures in later along with some thoughts on performance, but the ergonomics and comfort of the handle are absolutely amazing. Chris really brought my design to life even better than I pictured it.

Specs:
7" blade
1.5" wide blade
OAL: 12.25"
.275" thick

That's a good looking knife. Let us know when you get a chance to use it, and what your impressions are.

Congratulations, that looks like a real handfull of steel.
Looking forward to some reports.

I'm really going to have to add some pictures, but I just did some batoning (kind of) on some dry seasoned wood we have in the garage, this thing went through it like crazy I just did a light swing to get it started, put pressure on the spine and kind of rocked it back and forth and it just slid through like nothing. Never tried batoning like that, but didn't have a branch or anything to hit it with, didn't actually think it would work. I'm guessing it worked so well due to the ridiculously sharp edge and nice FFG. I also did a little chopping which it did well at for its blade length (probably due to the weight of the blade). I'll try to do a comparison with my SYKCO 911 and RMD since it's inbetween these two in size.

This sounds great. I am looking forward to hearing more about the performance of this knife.
