Here's a picture of one I just had photographed by Terrill. This is a large bladed version of our Hunting Claws. The blade is 10" of nickle damascus (1084, L-6 & nickle). The handle is African Blackwood with malachite, nickle-silver & black spacers. The guard is also nickle-silver. Tess did a nice 3 window sheath with a gray snake skin inlay. Just wanted to post something new. :D

J.and Tess, that's again beautiful work! As usual, and it looks like MS work to me. Are you sure you haven't been doing this stuff for 30 or 40 years?

ahhhh......all these "-ites" floating around....does it have a certain meaning? or is it just a name?

just found my own answer from dictionary.com

A light to dark green carbonate mineral, Cu2CO3(OH)2, used as a source of copper and for ornamental stoneware.

[Middle English melochite, from Latin molochtes, from Greek molokhtis, from malakh, molokh, mallow, of Semitic origin. See ml in Semitic Roots.]

One thing that doesn't come across in the picture is the balance and, well, sturdiness of this knife. It was fun to talk with J about this knife. It's even more fun to have it in my possession. I originally thought it would be a collector's piece, but it really cries out to be used, and I'm curious enough about how it performs (the unusual blade shape and the nickel in the damascus) that I may just have to take it out for a spin.

J & Tess,

As always your work is outstanding. :D

Gabe it freaks me out when people can admit they use knives like this! :D I'm so bad about this I only have four of a couple hundred knives that I use for anything more aggressive than cutting hangnails.

J and Tess this really is a sweet knife. I like its shape and colors; the sheath as usual enhances that all the way around. I guess I have to admit I'd be tempted to see what it'd do too, but I am strong! :D

Congratulations Gabe.

That blade shape wont dig a muskett ball out of your leg but it looks like a serious camp knife. One thing for sure it looks beautiful!

Who you been hanging around with Bruce?! :D

Awsome knife, and that sheath really sets it off, wish I could do leather work like that.

yeah J. I think its time to go for your JourneySmith. thats some nice sheathwork too! tess you should try to get some frog leather for the next one!

Thanks guys.

Musket ball?!? ;)

Mike, I still got two years before I can try for a JS. I just hope to be ready by then. Funny you should mention that, Tess just redid a Tracker sheath with black frog skin.

Your knives are getting like Bump's. They are always good and there isn't much new to say....
BEAUTIFUL !!!
