I forged this one from a billet I have had for over year that Bruce Evans welded up for me in his woodgrain pattern. The forging made the pattern flow nicely with the blade design. The Bagwell-esque blade measures 10.25" and the OAL is 15". Spine is near 5/16" at the guard and tapers out to a fine fighting tip.

Guard material is birdseye damascus and the handle is oosik with an ebony buttcap.

The Bowie got a Bagwell style heat treat and can deliver a DEADLY backcut. Darn tip has already bit me twice!

I think this one is going down the road to Mike Sastre for a Southern Comfort.

Wow, that is one SLICK bowie! Definitely in the best Bagwell tradition. Well done!

That's what I'm talking about!! Better leave that one on your Blade table for me to ogle at before sending it down to Mike.

My favorite piece of your work so far, and I like 'em ALL! ;) :D

I wont be at Blade this year but I am hoping to have it there on Mike Sastre's table there at Blade.....so look for it there

Thanks!

Greg, I thought I was in love with your L6 bladed version, but this one tops that one for sure. Keep up the great work! :)

blade style is superb. Like how it goes to such a narrow point.

Yes....it is interesting to note that even though the tip becomes narrow....it is not quite "needle-like" and it is further supported by the proper heat treat for this type of blade.

Great looking knife, Greg!! Look forward to dressing it properly - see ya' Monday. Hungry blade, you say! Bagwell once cut himself badly on just such a clip - very minor contact with major damage. Point formation is one of the subtleties!

Hi Greg,

Very nice indeed.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for me when it's my turn. ;)

Thats one very nice piece of steel. That oosik looks outstanding.

Stay sharp

Actually, the oosic is my least favorite part of this fine bowie(although, I still love the knife). I would really love to see this bowie with a nice fat stag carver or round.

Danbo...actually there were several times in the making of this one that I just about switched to stag....but I had envisioned this one with oosik from the beginning and the overall design grew around the handle material rather than the blade. I kinda have this shop credo in sticking with the original plan.

With such a shortage of good stag, that is the way I have to go about things...used to be I could make a blade, run over to Kovals, and hand match a taper to the knife. Not so now....and I hate it.

I am all for military action to claim Sambar back for the US!!!!

I've looked at this knife a dozen times and its just gettin better and better. I like everything about this one, that damascus is really cool. The nice long blade really shows off the damascus pattern. Oosik was the perfect handle choice for this knife.

Awesome knife!!!
