Hoggers---- It's 08 and there better be a Big fat tanto come'n out!! is there?

Not if the Hogs can help it. Not a lot of love for tanto blades. Look at how hard it is to dump a Defender.

Sorry Lycosa... but I am with Dennis. There is nothing so worthless as a tanto blade for my uses. Although... I did see that fat guy from cold steel punch one through a car door once. So... I guess it would come in handy if you had to fight a car door. :D

kdstrick--- that was frick'n funny!!! Maybe the Badger Attack is the way to go. Thanks for the good laugh!

There's a model called Force One that was slated for production, but we haven't yet seen it. I think the only ones that made it into circulation were ones offered at Blade only. They're around though.

I liked the PD alot, no tanto but had some atributes. The only tanto I like is a spanto.
Many love a tanto though

The Force One was a regular production run in late 2004 IIRC.

Here's a couple of mine, one with the standard tanto design and one with a modifed tip from the Busse shop....

I have never owned a tanto blade. What practical use does it bring to the table?

I can imagine how it would be good as an entry tool and to punch through things like glass or car doors... is that the tanto-point (an intentional pun:p)?

IMO, blades in the more traditional (eg PD) format are desirable, but not the super-acute "geometric" variety like the FO. What in the world does one do with a blade like that... given that one has run out of rabid car doors to banish? It just seems sort of, well I guess... asinine.

CRK's take on the so-called Americanized tanto is perhaps a little more useful. There you get an effective secondary point and a chisel-like forward grind.

If penetration is the issue, I'd say something along the lines of a PD is where it's at. For general utility, a drop or spear point is just a better design.

That is the first time I heard that story. There are more than a few out there:
