Big folder or small fixed blade for EDC?

I like to carry a small fixed blade during the warm months, and as much as I can, But when it`s cold, My winter coat covers my knife, making it a concealed weapon.I live in California, and the laws state that a fixed blade of more than two inches is illegal to conceal. There is no limit on the size of folders.

Well, I personally carry a fold AND a pocket fixed blade on a daily basis. I am carrying a 3 inch XM-18 & a Charles May Fireant.

I carry a big folder (ZT 0200) because, even with my CWP, I can't legally carry a fixed-blade knife here in Washington state.

if i was in a more rural area here in VA id carry a fixed blade more often... also the fact that my school does not allow students to have "weapons" on university property i kinda have to keep to a folder. but being a male, art student, in VA no one says anything to me about it.

i used to carry a sheath knife that i got from a friend (worked at a junky military surplus type store) but after i used it to clean some deer skins then forgot about it for about a year i just decided to toss it (couldnt hold and edge, kind of expected from a 5 dollar knife). the only issue i could have had from carrying the knife was that i kept it on my belt on the right back so it was right by my wallet so i could have freaked out an LEO.

I carry a folder but I would carry a a F.B if I lived in a less populated area. Over here you would get stared at if you walked around with a f.b and even though its legal, LEOs would hassle you so its a folder for me.

Often I carry a Bark River Mini Canadian in a pocket sheath paired with a Vic Spirit multitool.

Lately though, I've just been carrying a Wenger alox SI or a Case peanut, and getting by just fine.

I carry both, normally a large SAK lockback and a small to medium sized fixed blade. Today a custom by Ray Laconico.

i carried strider SA and Al mar 2000. now SA is gone, looking for small fixed (a little be lighter one)

Don't really own any big folders, but I did EDC a BM 210 Activator for a while and really liked it functionality-wise.

I stopped, went back to folding, and can't seem to get back into carrying the small fixed.

Technically both, a SAK in my back pocket, mostly for the tools and sheeple, and a small fixed blade for everything else.

Depending on what I am wearing usually a Rat Cutlery RC-3 and leatherman micra during winter at school (college) during spring/summer Mod CQD Mark I so I can feel all tatical-cool and the micra. Truthfully if you could I would carry a small fixed.

Isn't that about stupid? You're ok with a pistol, but not to be trusted with a FB.

My Fla CCW says Concealed Weapon OR Firearm License.

Not sure about S.C. Hope they aren't retarded and my Busse has to come off my belt.

Guess I'll find out when I get the license switched over.

I carry both, a Busse on one side and a Sebbie on the other.

Big folder or small fixed blade for EDC?
What are your choices & why?

I carry a folder. I prefer about a 3" blade.
Because for the cutting I expect my EDC to do, that's as much as I need.

I don't hunt anymore. I no longer backpack. (got a medical condition that precludes getting out of range of an emergency room.) I'm a homeowner in the suburbs. I do fixits in the back yard that involve cutting. I may need to open one of those bubble packs that seem to bedevil some folks (which I cannot figure out why anyone with a sharp blade would have a hard time opening one). Anything with a 3" handle to grab and at least a 2" blade works for me. YMMV (and apparently does).

Since I'm a lefty I carry a Buck 110 on my left hip as my work knife and my Large Classic Sebanza in a Vess Crossdraw sheath on my right hip (for SD). I'm thinking about rotating the Sebenza with a Buck Kalinge.

I carry folders only! I really dont care for fixed blade knives. I have several different folders that I like including Large Sebenza, BM AFCK, BM 940, and a few others. Just my thoughts but i love knives with a clip to carry. THANKS! Kevin :thumbup::thumbup:

Both. Right now I carry a Camillus demo knife, a Benchmade 710 once I make it out of the burbs on the way home from work, and usually my David Farmer EDC in my backpack, but have switched that out for my RAT Cutlery RAT3. Over the weekend, it was my Ritter Grip and mini Grip, and the RAT3. Depending on your location, and if you behave yourself ;), you should be able to carry either.

I carry both fixed and folder at the same time. The ZT 0121 is the fixed, and the folder is either a Grip or the ZT 0200. I love the 0121, perfect size for any job, just not really good at recycling cardboard, because of thickness, but it still works well:D
