I really enjoyed making this "D" guard bowie and if it weren't for me getting a virus one weekend and then my computer getting one the next weekend it would have been done a lot sooner.

Stats
Forged from a 1962 Ford Galaxie leaf spring with brute de forge finish.
Blade length 13" from tip to guard.
OAL 18.25"
Stacked leather handle that has been stabilized.
Weight: heavy :) would have to guess a bit over 2 LB, maybe 2.5.
The top curl of the guard is a bottle opener. :)

One thing I like in particular is that the springs were already rusty so it has a distressed antique look even before I touch it with a hammer.

I was definitely testing the limits of my one burner forge but when it was time to HT I cranked up the PSI to about 7 and let'er rip, worked like a charm.

Comments welcomed!

Thanks. I refer to that video often.

I got 3 more videos in the mail today from smartflix so we'll see what I come up with next. :)

You call that a knife?!? That's not a knife, THIS is a knife....

OK, well nevermind. That is a knife. And it's bigger than mine. :(

haha.

there were 3 of us out camping on a long weekend a few years back in a popular area and this guy being a bit of a freak comes & visits our camp site and starts chatting with us and like a freak, although with no ill-intent he pulls out this big knife from his belt and starts with the "Dr. Giggles" laugh. I wish I would have had this at that very moment to say exactly that and start with my own "Dr. Giggles" laugh.

Oh yeah, a co-worker called it a 'swaxe' for sword-axe. :)

Wow, that's huge 69! I like the forge finish too. Is it possible to hold this beast in one hand and remove a beer bottle cap without snapping the whole neck off the bottle?!?

I think so. I've only tested it with an empty screw top cause in the winter I don't drink much beer.

WOW that's a big A@#!! knife I like the hammer finish.. I just finished a small utility knife with a hammer finish. I need to post it on here as soon as I learn how to post pictures on this web site.
