I decided to make a deadfall trap that could take out some big game today.

First step was to make me a scary looking spike !!!

My spike lashed to my deadfall and raised into position~

I added the extra piece of wood to the top of the deadfall at the last minute, next time I'll add even more weight and lash it all together better. I really just wanted to practice the principle of the trap today.

I also made another modified Promontory Peg deadfall trap, still love this trap as it's so easy and quick to make~

~ Always ensure dogs and other people are clear of these type of traps when you are setting them up and always take them to bits before you leave the spot ! ~

Pitdog those are some pretty cool traps, but i have to ask is that an RMD and if so did you strip it yourself. It looks like a perfect size knife and Sw uses some good steel.

It's one up from the RMD, it's the M6 and yeah I stripped it the other week. Great knives like ya said !

cool traps! and thats a beauty right there the M6, i think that or the M9 is my grail rat. ive got the RMD and need some pants for it before i can give it a proper test out in the woods/ trail.

p.s. where are the wild edible threads at pitdog?

LOL.....I'll do some, I'm just on a bit of a trap trip at the moment.....no pun intended !!!:D

Odds are I would end up getting killed just making something like that. I like all your trap vids. :) On a side note I can't embed any video from YouTube. Not sure what I am doing wrong?

Man Id hate to have to be the one who gets to dispatch a large animal that gets hit with that! It would no doubt be freakin out....Something Ive learned from the snaring and trapping instruction Ive had is large animals can be more trouble then their worth when snared and spiked or what have you.....

You do alot of traps Pit.....Ever caught anything?

No I'm pretty sure it would be illegal here. I have set traps up on the garden to try and get the odd stray rat in my woodpile but I can't even leave those set up for long because of my dogs.

Hey Pitdog, I really enjoy your snare and trap threads, have you ever thought of doing a master thread where you link all your other trap/snare threads in?

It would make a great visual resource to the beginners like myself
