As a confirmed lover of Becker knives, it has always been a struggle to include my 14 and 11 in on the adoration. I want to like them in the worst way, but just can't get past the short handles. I have large hands. Not ginormous Warrior size mitts, just your average size large/xl glove hands. I think the problem is they're old man hands that don't grip like they did when I was a young 'un. I solved the problem with the 14 a while ago by making a cedar handle that extended beyond the end of the knife about 3/4". Amazing in hand now.

I also have an 11, and I've been staring at it for a while now trying to figure out how I could make it longer. Then I decided that if I couldn't make more room at the end, maybe I could make more room at the other end, so out with the dremel, and a little bit of time and a whole lotta sparks later...

I'll rewrap the handle before I use it again, but the extra room I gained at the front end of the handle makes it a lot more comfortable to hold.

Maybe someday there will be a Becker BK14.5 or 11.5 with a longer handle straight from the factory. That would be awesome, but until then, these will do.

Nice improvement. I don't have large hands but I have long fingers, and the 11, even with the micarta scales is not very comfortable to me. The 14/24 is perfect.

I had a similar idea myself! I've been meaning to make my "first big post" on here, but I hadn't found the time. Thank you for inspiring me! I'll make this quick:

I know it's heresy to kill the bottle opener, but I usually drink twist-offs anyway....

Added some cheap red oak scales I made from some home depot hardwood and the pins are an old screwdriver I chopped up.

Now I need a new sheath...

Nice work Workhorse, looks like a completely different knife.

Creaky, I really like the cedar handles on the BK-14.

The BK14 with a longer handle is really an amazing knife. Easy to carry, not hard on your hands if you really need to use it hard. I love it now, thanks!

And thanks to all for the kind words.

I'm hoping that's a "a seed has been planted in my mind" Hmmmm......

I'll send you the 14 to play with if that would help the seed grow...

I was always hoping they would release a BK14 II, like the Izula II. Same blade, longer handle. Then, with the addition of scales to go with it.......but I believe Tooj said there weren't any plans to.

Both of thos projects look amazing guys! I keep meaning to make some for my 11...someday I'll get the motivation to do it...
