I received the call today and must report by 1630 Teusday. All over America other Reservists are also getting their seabags and duffels packed. To the active duty forces, we are coming and we are ready to help! Bhak, the big honkin AK, is coming too and boasts a razor edge.

This is what we do and why we exist. America is a good country and worth whatever price the Almighty requires from us to preserve her. If I may ask one thing of you all, it is this: Don't let bigots and blowhards steal the nation's soul. We go to work against terrorism, not against Islam or any other faith. Stand if you must in the doorways of mosques, temples and churches, interpose yourself between our compatriots and the fools who never learn.

Pray for the lads and lasses who must go to war, this is a young person's game and they will pay the highest price. I will train them well, remembering to remind them why they go and why they must come home again one day. Pray also for the souls of our adversaries, for this is also a war against darkness and evil.

Best wishes to all of you.

Stephen, Good luck in all that you do! Perhaps we might meet on the field one day and if so I'll show you my prized Ank khola as well! Good luck my friend and stay sharp!

I assume from your post that you're involved with training, not fighting. Get them ready to kick some serious a@*!!!!!! and to come home in one piece. You have my thanks, prayers and unwaivering support.

Excellently put.

I've wanted to reply to the major who posted the "Mad as hell" thread, but there was something in it I had reservations about.

You've put it in perspective for me. You and the major go and do the deeds that must be done.

Leave your soul in a safe place, prosecute your mission fully and without quarter, but after the ugliness and the carnage, remember where you left your soul and come back to it again.

And if you find you need healing afterwards, do us the honor of asking our help and prayers. That will be a privilege and honor to us to be allowed to do so.

Stephen,

I hope you can send a few of them on their way. Stay safe and come back in one piece.

I guess you will give us a serious knife review when you get back. :)

Good luck Stephen and may your blade always be sharp.

Good Luck Stephen,
It is evident that you have the proper perspective on todays events. I hope you can instill that view in your troops. It is important in these things to keep perspective. We need to stop this vile crap that is happening before it can spread and further harm innocent lives, yet we must remember not to attack the innocent in our own lands, who feel as we do. That said, I feel no remorse at the thought of ending the lives of the persons that did this deed or those willing to do it in the future. God Bless and Be Strong !

Stephen, Godspeed. We all wish you the very best and we are with you and all the others all the way.

Thank you all for your encouragement. I've learned that I'll be rotating among the various Coast Guard stations along the Gulf Coast and it is unlikely that I'll be sent overseas. This is fine with me as there are younger, stronger, better men than I for those billets. Bhak will still go to discourage any rash ideas that strangers may have in this our country's hour of unrest. Weird things can happen on the waterfront and this is one old sailor who doesn't care for weird; orderly is the only way!

I leave tomorrow afternoon and as long as I can cop time on someone's PC I'll check in. My other Reservists are all coming along and to a man they are primed and enthusistic. You know, in the Gulf one of my trained crews captured the first land, a tiny island. Another crew captured an inbound SAS boat crew, much to their chagrin (they like sneaking in and out and never thought Coasties could do anything about it). We'll make sure the ammo gets loaded on the ships, w'll see to it that they make it in and out of port safely, we'll be there overseas to prevent another Cole type bombing. Me, I'll try to find some good French coffee and jambalaya and do whatever can be done to help out.

Stephen
